Inspired by the recent poll about vehicle mileage. What is your highest round count on a single AR? If that rifle needed replacement parts list them below. If your round count is significantly higher than 15000 put that in there too.

my 7.62x39 ar has somewhere around 1500 rounds, give or take. My 5.56 is only around 500 or so, but it's pretty new.

I have around 5K on my 14 year old 6921. All original parts still.

[#3]
Noveske SBR with something around 12k through it. Replaced the original barrel last summer but it's not shot-out. Same goes for the bolt.

I have really close to 15k through my DD AR in 300 BLK. I know it's over 13k for sure.
Got it in 2012. I've replaced parts regularly on it so I haven't really worn any parts out yet. ![]() |

About 3500-4k rounds, the 16in on top. This was the first one I ever built back when AA piston systems were first introduced and YHM sold CL barrels (2009 I believe). Still holds 3/4 moa average @ 100yds with my handloads. Changed a few things over the years, but never had a repair needed. Since the original build I have changed the handguard, optics, muzzle device to hold the suppressor and stock because I like the locking feature. When I first built it, it was hard to find a handguard that worked with the AA kit and I jumped on this one as soon as Samson put it out.

Most barely have a couple hundred but when I really like something orvwant to get good with it I can't keep count.
556 is crazy expensive right now so I have to start shooting steel case stuff in x39, 9, and 223 in a few designated set ups that might get up there. |

My first AR has well over 15K. I have replaced gas rings multiple times, replaced the firing pin retaining pin once, the trigger started doubling so I replaced it with a MBT trigger, the barrel’s accuracy has noticeably degraded in accuracy as I think it has worn probably close to being shot out, I have changed parts on it over the years but the main guts are the same.

My mod 1 is on its second or third barrel. Also wore out two bolt catches so far in it

Have an old Colt H BAR from the 90's that has at least 15k on it. Still shoots well , but the accuracy is starting to go.

The only guns I can tell you my round counts on are brand new ones.
Never seen the purpose of the anal-retentive process of counting rounds. Proper inspection during cleaning and observing while shooting will tell you if you need maintenance. |

Have at least 10k through my 2009 DDM4V1, maybe more. I have changed the extractor spring and the recoil spring but other than that it is stock. Great gun.

[#14]
I have a shade over 20K through my usin’ AR. It’s on it’s second 16” carbine gas barrel.

View Quote My highest use AR is also a 2009 vintage DDM4 and strangely enough also around 10k though it has a BA barrel and G trigger now. Original receivers and bolt group though. The original 16” DD barrel wasn’t much of a shooter on my specimen. BA Hanson stainless barrel has around 1500 on it and it is a shooter and perfectly gassed. I’m going to run the DD bolt till it breaks. |

[#17]
My 11.5 needs to re-barreled. I'm at around 22k and it's not grouping anymore.
|

[#18]
Guesstimated amount for my beater/go-to AR is something like 6-7k rounds.
I used to keep track based off how much ammo I had. Hard to do when I bring out multiple guns to shoot and when teaching classes. |
|
[#19]
Colt 6921 barrel cut and shaved to a LW 12.5 - 7000 ? Might be more, but still grouping well
DD MK18 upper, about the same as above at least, no issues, had to put a cam pin in the BCG Rainier Arms Combat 14.5 CHF C/L - Full rifle, these had great barrels, and even the BCG is a Denny's Thunderbolt - Conservatively I have 6-7K through it. My son swears it's much more. With great ammo, it is still very accurate. |

[#20]
My AR’s are all sadly low round count guns, mostly because they are all kinda on the new side. Now my AK, has maybe 6K? I’ve owned that since early 2001.
|
|
[#21]
My le6920 has between 1500 and 2k
My home build 16in beater has about 1500-2k also Between my other ar15s past and present i probably have another 2k spread between those. |
|
[#22]
No idea, maybe 3-4k from a DD MK18.
Around 1200 on a Centurion and KAC 11.5 uppers. The others are probably around 500-1000. I do a lot of flipping, so a lot of rounds on other uppers. |
|
[#23]
Old 20inch that was the first AR I got in the mid 90's. I have around 4k through it and still have it.

My highest round count AR is also my shittiest quality AR. M&A Parts 16" M4 carbine kit with A2 upper. Upgraded to a RRA 2-stage trigger somewhere around 2004 and proceeded to bump fire probably half of the 6,000rds through it. Lost the second stage on the RRA trigger pretty quickly so it basically has a 2lb trigger with no defined wall
![]() I also had to mortar rounds out of it after shooting brass after hundreds of rounds of steel case. My other high quality build had a Sabre defense barrel that shoots amazing. It's had an ACOG on it since 2009 and has been my go to up until lat year. All my other high quality builds/purchases have been in the last 2-3yrs and aren't over 1,000rds or so. |

[#25]
I have a tendency to change uppers around 4-6,000rds, and keep very detailed range records so I know exactly how many rounds are fired through a particular upper.
In 2021 I decided that I was going to shoot my Colt 6920 until it no longer groups well. It started life as an extremely accurate unit so I'll know when it starts to slip. This rifle has only been fed, and will only be fed, Wolf Classic steel case. I'm hoping I get 10k through it before I need to replace the upper (yes I know I can replace the barrel and bolt, but complete uppers are just easier for me). One of the things I like about LMT is they serialize their MRP uppers. This helps with my OCD record keeping. Non-serialized uppers are recorded by the serial on the optic or if no optic then a paint pencil number is written on it. Shot another 420 rounds this morning through my Colt and LMT. When ammo prices return to sane I'll be able to get back into a higher round count routine. |

I have an Olympic SGW/Fleming transferable M16 lower with over 65,000 rounds on it. That was all done in about 3 years after I purchased it.

My noveske started as a 10.5, got shot out, rebuilt it, and it’s now wearing geissele bits with a 12.5 noveske barrel.
I put about 11.5-13.5k through it over the course of 6 years. |

My Duty AR has slightly over 8,000 rounds through it, a little over 3,000 rounds of Hornsby 40 gr Urban TAP and the rest crappy practice ammo.

Like 300 rounds. I sold a bunch of my older ARs recently abd bought a few new ones. So I'm back to low round count. Just the way it worked out.

I actually sold my high mileage, but budget, ARs during the last panic. Made a profit, upgraded. So none of mine is high round count at the moment

|
[#37]
2002 era Rock River Arms with about 8000 rounds.
And seldom mis fires. Usually when I use some shitty GI mag that is probably older than I am. |
