Geez!  $900+ for a regular 20" upper?

We bought them by the trailer load a few years ago for $115 each including bcg at Knob Creek

A few?   I bought some around 2006-7. They were ~$200 without bcg.     The original colt bcgs were already getting hard to find, and expensive.

Yep, back then. Glad I got all my shit done before hand, when things were normal before covid, before lockdowns, before supply chains shotages, etc., etc, and most of all, before biden. I can rest easy now.

I thought this too until I realized my "a few years ago" was actually 12-14 years ago when Obama was elected. People were buying M4geries by the truck load and we were buying 1960's Colt surplus parts nobody wanted. The 1970's Colt M16A1 parts were everywhere and included a Colt Chrome Bore barrel for $400, Colt A1 parts kits on NDS lower complete builds could be done for $575.00.

Same thing that happened to ammo prices, a few years ago when I shot high power rifle(1994)I could buy 1000 rds of GI .308 for $100. And 1000 rds of GI 30-06 for $120!
Wish I would have stocked up on a few hundred thou.
Shoulda, coulda, woulda!

Normal is relative. I have receipts from my grandfather buying 1911s and M1s as surplus, for next to nothing. It was normal.

My first M1 Garand was $93, shipped to my front door.

I remember when you could get an SKS for about a 100 clams. What are they now?

I bought an unissued SKS "a few years ago" at Roses dept store for $45

I was talking about a trip I took 'a few years ago' to a friend at work. He asked when it was and, thinking back and being more exact, it was 18 years ago. Good grief I'm getting old.

I went nuts before the 2008 election and bought up a ton of powder and primers as well as a number of guns and gun parts kits that I’m still building. I had a couple of friends tell me that I was nuts putting it all on credit cards, but the credit cards were paid off a decade or so ago and I’ll still using up the same primers and powder. For once I actually timed it right.

I still see cheap uppers on sale every day.

Yup… still $225 for a complete upper at the first place that googled up. (Optics planet)

Not surplus USGI. That's what the OP is talking about.

I know Gunbroker isn't always the best indicator of things, but:

...what the hell are these prices.

An opportunity to make a lot of money if you are the seller.

Hopefully PSA/Nodak can start producing replicas.

H&R is getting spun up as we speak.

In a different post, he said that new upper production was awaiting some new custom tooling, ETA unspecified.

No one is currently making A1 and A2 uppers, guys want to make uppers, those with uppers are gouging. 600 for an A1 upper is stupid, don't pay idiot prices. Nodak and H&R are in the process of a production run of A1 and maybe A2 uppers. Save your money and wait for them. Don't buy them all and gouge others that's being a huge dick.

That's what every turd on here will do. Max out the Visa the second they drop. Hopefully they limit purchases so this very issue doesn't happen, but I'm starting to wonder why they won't release pricing yet if they are so close to getting them listed at PSA.

And I'll bet that the Postman even delivered them right to his door.

Good point. I'm surprised there hasn't been any discussion about the pricing. Something tells me people are going to be upset with the cost when they release.

Holy crap! $599 for an M231 upper?

I remember when these were readily available and cheap because nobody wanted them except the few people building clones of them.

I luckily built the things I wanted before things got crazy.

Yeah, I bought a NOS complete M16A1 upper from CDNN for about $125, back in the day.

Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end. La, la, la, la.

I have a hunch they’ll be out of my range. I had to wait until Black Friday to get a couple of retro rifles from Brownells.
