Looking at building my 1st pistol caliber at and I know nothing of the beast

Currently staring at the spikes Colt dedicated lower and the psa Colt style lower

Are psa uppers gtg or any other recommendations you all would suggest for me?

are you planning on shooting any competition with the PCC, or is it a range toy?....

if USPSA PCC, you don't need a last round bolt hold open, only the ability to lock the bolt open and show clear....if so, I'd suggest looking at a Glock format lower, as there are a lot of high capacity magazines available without going to  an extended floor plate like Taylor Freelance... if you want the look of a WWII buzz gun, then the straight stick Colt mag is what you want

either format, I'd recommend a bolt that uses an AR style extractor

tuning the carbine bolt/buffer is dependent on the ammunition you choose... it will take a little time... do you hand load 9MM?, if so, work out your load first.. I shoot a squeaker 126 pf for the G17 which gives me about 142pf out of the carbine... 135 Bayou coated with WSF... I find that a hydraulic buffer works best for me, but not necessary

do you have some AR15 parts laying around?... eg. dot style sight, match style triggers, extra pistol grip, fore end, stock etc

for an entry level PCC, a Palmetto State forged Glock format lower and upper is pretty reasonable... mine works well

a little more information would be helpful

HD/back yard toy/trunk monkey special

I had been lugging around my 300BO for the past few months between home and work but I'd like to save a lil on ammo

Been trying to find 10.5 Colt type 9mm /Rra uppers but after seeing the prices hory sheet!

I do have a few Glock 9mm mags 33rd ones I think

I like the older stick mag look look

I got a psa lpk kit and a sba3 and extension and some sand grips and firearms laying about

I love my setup thanks to the research of @Amphibian.  Uses a standard AR lower setup with a CMMG RDB barrel and bolt.  Not the cheapest option but a fantastic shooter.

If you just want a "beater" 9mm, I have a PSA setup that runs Glock mags that is fine and fun as well.  Just not as refined or smooth when shooting.

This is a good place to start for some education and information...

Lots of 9mm AR information

I put this post together after troubleshooting a miserable first build. Second build ran perfect from the start.YMMV.

Using one of Rudy's (Macon Armory) barrels was the key to having trouble-free feeding.

OP just call and talk to Rudy. You won’t regret it.

He fixed my problem Glock build and it is awesome.

Runs like a raped ape.

If using a 7 inch handguard....probably should have gotten an 8.5 barrel.....9mm and 5.56 barrels fit differently

I can confirm this.  In my case the 9mm barrel needed to be 1.5" longer than the handguard length for all of the muzzle threads to be outside the handguard.

4" handguard and a 5.5" barrel got the trilug adapter fully in front of the handguard.  1/2" shorter barrel and the trilug would have been partially obscured.

Not cheap but SLR has a ton of odd ball sizes including some 5.5 and 6in handguards perfect for your project.
