Lots of guys using White Oak SPR barrels and uppers, but never hear anything about the 3gun barrels or uppers that have their proprietary gas system (shorter than rifle gas, but not as short as midlength gas) and the longer handguard.  Looking to replace an upper for my centerfire coyote rifle and the 18" looked really interesting in either the mk1.9 or mk2.3.

Anybody?

I have the 2.3 18" that I built into a medium range shooter. Only sighted in so far so not a lot of rounds down the tube. I put in a reduced gas port gasblock, .049" vented set screw. Shot good with my 55 gr vmax hornady tap knock off load. I didn't have a lighter buffer than H with me so no lockback. I was using a Turbo K suppressor that will live on the barrel. Need to get it back to the range with some lighter buffers to test it out. Only have 100 yds where I shoot so also need to find a longer place.

The tricky part with 18in barrels/gas systems has a lot to do with the round you are using. A competition barrel is going to be designed for use with comp ammo. I would make sure whatever barrel you go with works well with your hunting ammo.

Seems like it would be hard to establish that for certain til after you purchase it and are sitting behind the rifle.

Very interesting.  Had no idea these existed.  They look perfect for something SPR'ish.

Curious how well the light and medium versions do.  I'm assuming very accurate, and the lighter the profile, the more prone to opening up as it heats up?
