This seemed like the most appropriate subforum. I have dozens of small Glock pre-update black parts that need to be cleaned. These parts haven't been produced in 30yrs and were usually thrown out when the updates were done thus they are pretty rare and sought after partially due to their black finish, so it's important that I not harm the finish at all. I have a heated RCBS ultrasonic cleaner that I've used exclusively for stainless steel suppressor parts and brass with a 50/50 purple power/water solution - I've never used it on finished gun parts. Can I use the same purple power/water mixture without damaging the parts or their finish? There's no margin for error here. Thanks

Try simple green rather than purple power if you want to be more gentle with the finish.

Hornady stuff hasn’t hurt any of my parts, been US cleaning for 4-5yrs.
