So went down stairs today in the man cave and noticed my wife had been in their this week I hadn't noticed because I have been working 12 and 16 hrs shifts at work so I havent had time for anything but sleeping.  Anyway I noticed my wife threw away my Boot camp nylon M16 dissassembly cleaning mat I about lost it I was so pissed off she did that and her comment was it was really dirty I said no shit it's a cleaning rag first in a long time I swore around her.  So does anybody know where the hell to get one?   It's not just a cleaning rag it was a badge of honor something as stupid like this cleaning mat reminds me of the USMC I know it sounds stupid but its important to me so if you know where to get one lmk .

I would give Indiana Army Surplus a try.  If they don't have one, maybe they could recommend another source.  1(812)275-2801.  I definitely wish you success.

Check gunbroker and eBay. I’ve seen quite a few of them and they are usually pretty cheap. I know there are variations in them. No telling if they are the same as yours or not.

I was in there last week for a magazine pouch and was really surprised to find only one on the shelf. They've gotten pummeled pretty hard it seems. Place looked kind of bare, frankly.
Sad, that was our go to spot for larp gear as kids.

I feel your pain, my now ex-wife back in 1991 threw out my perfectly ironed & starched camies from my ROTC days that were stored in a special
box, claiming "she thought they were rags."

I understand your attachment, but you might consider an upgrade.  The second I saw one of these, I ordered the small and large.  The edges prevent tiny screws and bearings from rolling off, and the mat is fairly thick.  I have been using them a couple years and they are very durable. Cleanup is easy with Simple Green.

There is some show on the TV that is all about purging, cleaning, rinse and repeat.  Some women seem to have become addicted to this show and are taking things too far.  There are guidelines and rules that seem more like indoctrination and brainwashing that make them obsessed about throwing things away or selling off things if you haven't used or touched the item for the last 5 minutes.

Time to do your research and shut that shit down.

My second ex-wife saw fit to clean the garage when I was at Knob Creek about 15 years ago. Came home to a pile of debris in the front yard awaiting trash pickup upon my return home. She met me in the front yard warning me not to touch a thing in that pile. Amongst the damage was an M249 feed tray.  Notice I said "second ex-wife."

Looks weird.  Looks like outlines for A1 hand guards.  Were you expected to disassemble the bolt?  I see a spot for the extractor.  But no spot for the extractor spring.

Yes, we would lay our parts out on it. I don't ever recall pulling the extractor spring in boot camp or in the fleet.

We had one framed on the classroom wall at FMSS Camp Pendleton (FMTB nowadays I think). Always thought it looked cool. Gonna find one to frame and donate to local VFW. Post Commander is a Marine, perhaps he'll appreciate it.

Same ones we were issued in 2003 in San Diego.  Even had the triangle handguard outlines lol.  Couldn't tell you where mine went, pretty sure I tossed it soon after boot or MCT not sure.

The same basic one was issued in 1988 at Parris Island.

Yup, I still got mine from MCRD San Diego in ‘88.

Glad to see a good Samaritan is helping you out! At the time (1978) MCRD Parris Island we were never issued or used a cleaning mat. Either a concrete wash rack, or the concrete floor in the barracks sitting on a foot locker. Can't remember what we used the 2 weeks at the rifle range? A nylon mat would of been nice!

This was painted on table tops at MCRD SD back in '82. For the A1.
