I have a couple that have worn or missing rubber & rusted rear sling swivels.

Can a standard front rubber coated swivel be used to replace it by driving out the roll pin?

I refinished a few d stocks several years ago. I dipped the studs, swivels, etc. in acid until clean, prepped, and then hit them with Alumahyde black.  Worked great.  I did not view the rubber as necessary (earliest ones didn't have it IIRC).
