Thanks to Dogecoin, I'm flush with a little gun cash, and have decided to buy a backup weapon (I already have a PSA carbine, as well as a pistol).

Looking at the PSA website, I'm torn between two choices:

https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-20-classic-a2-rifle.html

and

https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-10-5-5-56-nato-1-7-nitride-moe-ept-shockwave-pistol-black-5165450091.html

Basically between a 20" A2 Classic and the 10.5" Pistol with Evil Brace.  Both are well within my price range, right now.

This won't be my primary weapon.

What's the pros/cons?

Help me, Arfcom. You're my only hope!

I'm a big fan of 10-12 in. ar's. Handy, light, take care of business inside 200 yds. just fine.

x2

Good brace, good sights, solid all around.

The 10.5" barrel is good all around....personal defense, good out to 200+ yards, compact in pistol form and can be back packed or in a go bag for on the go protection.

With a compact size like this, in a backpack, use 20 round mags to keep the overall size minimal....have 30 round mags as back up

What's the difference in noise level (at the outdoor range, as well as indoors) between the 10.5" and a carbine?  I've heard the pistols can be uncomfortable to shoot, even with earpro.

Meh.  You can always double up (I do).  Foam plugs under muffs.

This is a pistol with essentially a SBR barrel and gas length.  I cant imagine the 10.5 being much louder than my 11.5" SBR.  I use single hearing protection whether I am shooting suppressed or non....not that bad.

Never shot my SBR at an indoor range and dont plan on doing that

If using a flash hider, I don’t notice a huge difference in sound (even with indoor ranges) between my 11.5” and 16” barrels. The short barrels are really only obnoxious if you’re using a muzzle brake.

I'd get the 20", I love my A2. The shorty is going to have some LOUD muzzle blast. Is the pistol you already have an AR pistol?

Nope.  S&W EZ 9mm.  Glock 17, as well.

Classic! As much as ammo is worth you should get the max FPS your dollars allow. Basic economics really.

ETA AR pistols are a lot louder than my A1.
