So I shared this with one person a while ago but decided it was a cool little idea that any vintage Surefire guys would dig.

You can connect modern Surefire tape switches to your old 6 series light. Here you go.
*I did not come up with this mod. This was shared to me by a friend.

Start with the UM00 Tailcap from a millenium light

Next, grab your standard 6p tailcap and gut it. (if you do not know how to gut it I can post a diy on here, it is pretty easy but requires you to use any oven on like 200f for 10 min).

Next, you pop the insert out of the UM tailcap. It is annoying because the little dust cap has to squeeze through with the unit but no more than 20 seconds of work.

And the final piece. Insert the UM unit into the 6p tailcap. Boom. My super secret mod.
It works 100% perfectly and seals perfectly. Now you do not have to use the junk 660 tailcaps with the built in switch.

Dual pad? No problem

Also, you may be wondering why run a shitty incan light? They all have Malkoff M61 drop in heads. So they are 450lm potted led heads. Never had one die yet.

I remember reading about this mod years ago, but had forgotten about it until your post reminded me. So, I dug out the box-o-legacy Surefire parts. Voila.  Thanks dude!

A dual switch tail cap XM00 from a M951/952 screws right onto a 6P, M1, G2, G2X, 1" bodies without any modification.

It does, and they even came on late model 660s. But it doesn't have the vintage look this mod has.

Yeah they are all cross compatible but why would you want that ugly tailcap
Never settle for less sex appeal

No doubt. It's all about looking good when dutch roll behind my couch as I pretend to clear my living room of zombies.

I actually have my old 660 that I'm going to do this mod too...

Got a few of these 660s so posted one for sale with the mod if anyone wants it. Price might seem high but I am in each one like $220-250

Well the round head 6ps/and 660s are not cheap anymore unless you are getting a hook up.
Malkoff drop in - $40
XM00 - $40
660/round head 6p - ~$150

Seems normal to me. Have not seen many 660 kits under $200 in a while.

And yeah this has been around way longer than I have been in the gun game. But I figured making a write-up would help some people out.

Where did you find the XM00 tail cap? I can't find one that looks like that.

that looks awesome.  my 660 is much newer and lacks the retro sex appeal.  xm00 tail cap and z32 head, but it is as new and i paid $65.  i’m not complaining.  also running a malkoff m61 in it.

Not as sexy cool as your retro, but still very functional with a good LED drop in.  These later versions still seem to pop up regularly.

Hey if it works and works well no skin off anyones bones. That DS tailcap is more useful as well.
My only beef is all of these old 6 series lights feel like they weigh as much as 3 m600 scout lights. Especially with the old steel weaver mounts.
