I have my 5.56s, built a .300 BLK and built a 6.5 Grendel.  I don't want a big frame (AR10 size) rifle at all.  I want to be able to get ammo at stores if needed.

What should I build?  There really isn't an intended purpose, rather a bunch of random parts that need a home!  Help me decide folks.

Any reason?  Does it do anything well that the .300 BLK cant?

I just thought you were looking for something different.  If you’re done with 5.56, .300BLK, have 6.5G, don’t want large frame - you only have a few options left:  PCC, 7.62 or do something like an AK.  (In my opinion)

Do you have access to longer ranges? Maybe something like a .243 LBC, 6mm Predator or 6mm ARC (if Hornady ever officially introduces the latter).

I'd do a PCC personally if I had your criteria in mind. You'd need super long range to beat 6.5 performance with a common round, 300 BLK wins in the short barrel and suppressed category and supers are still good at short distances, and the 5.56 is well, the original.

PCC is the only thing left that's differentish, if you want a common round and are questioning the 7.62x39.

The range that's 3 minutes from my house is officially a 1200 yard range.  I think we can reach out a little further.

I really want to stick with something I can find ammo on the shelf for in a pinch if possible.

I'm not too familiar with the PCC stuff.  Most of my pistols are in .40 except for the wife's EDC.  I wouldn't be opposed to going that route but isn't everything different internally?  I may have to do some research there...

.224V maybe? I mean, you can get ammo in some places anyway.

Sounds like instead you need to get reloading equipment.

Getting my kids out to shoot is hard enough since they both play Baseball, Basketball and Football.  If I had the time, I'd be reloading for USPSA matches.  For now it's all factory ammo.

I've always had a thing for 10mm but not sure how practical it would be to have yet another pistol caliber laying around.  I think I'd either do it in .40 or 9mm.

.22LR has it's place and I've never really cared for it in an AR.  Maybe I'm crazy?

9mm CMMG radial delayed blowback upper with Endo mags.  Great for drills on steel closeup.  Good short home defense potential.

OP, Mr. Parker brings up a good point...Big Bore is a ton of fun. Nothing puts smiles on my face quite like shooting the 458S.  In all seriousness, any of the "big 3" will do, and he's right that 450BM probably has the best availability on shelves.
