I built a side charger. The BCG will not stay open after last bullet. I have not had this happen on my rear charge build. Both were an 80% build and uppers were complete uppers.

First thing is to try several different magazines-both metal and plastic.

With an empty magazine in place, pull the charging handle.  Bolt lock back?
