Want to build a 22LR AR around the CMMG 4.5" barrel.  It will run suppressed the whole time, and I need ideas for what length/type of rail to run, so want to see what everyone else has.

Please note the length of the rail in your post please...trying to decide what length to go with!

Post away!

Built this for my kids with CMMG barrel, handguard and bolt.  Using S&W MP15-22 mags.

My son rebuilt it after watching a movie.

I can't remember which suppressor it has.  It's always suppressed.  I have a few different 22 suppressors.

Here's mine.  Did a F1 suppressor for it.   The suppressor is big but it fits what I wanted.  It was dusty and needed cleaning when I took this pic.  Optics have changed.

What length rails are each of you using?

I was using the CMMG 7" rail when I first built it with their 4.5 or 4" barrel (can't remember which one).
When my son switched to the Hera setup, it's using the same rail.

4.5" barrel with a Tactical Innovations Quest FA rated suppressor. Goes just about to the end of the handguard, which is some random I had when I put this together 15 years ago.

I think that was a 7" rail I had when I built it.   I prefer what I have on my ARV that has a matching 9mm suppressor though.

I have a 7 inch rail on mine.  I ran a 5.5 inch flash hider on it before I got my can approved.  It looks very similar to the picture by aod886 and I have the same suppressor.  I also have this installed to make it easier to take the suppressor on and off:

Okay so seems like the consensus is 7".

I'll take a look around at that length and see what I find.

Thanks!

CMMG 4.5" barrel.

Huntertown Arms Guardian 22 stainless can. 6" long.

BCM MCMR-8 8.14" rail

Previously had a Stern Defense 8" handguard. It was fine. I just ended up with an extra BCM 8" handguard after reconfiguring some stuff, so I changed it out. The Stern is $85 vs the $170 BCM if that matters.

Thanks for the pics...keep them coming.

Anybody have a 5.5" can? This Ryder seems to be that long. I think that with an 8" rail would be about perfect for a nearly flush fit. Not sure if that would look better or worse.

4.5 inch SLR rail...with Rugged Oculus.  Originally was running a 5.5 MAS rail, but it was difficult to grasp/remove the suppressor in short configuration.

If it helps anyone, I can put the MAS rail up in EE...looking for $50 shipped:

I'd recommend going with a rail that is easily removed. It is very common for the base of your can to get stuck on the BBL.

I used a carbine length Hogue overmolded tube for the SD look. It unscrews from the BBL nut for easy access to the BBL.

I use an Octane 9 (silencerco) on my 4.5" CMMG setup.

RTB 9/22 receiver, 4.5 RTB barrel, BCM 7” handguard

Full length MG 22....+ 2”...could be flush by removing 3 baffles. Usually use it in this configuration, wanted extra safety factor vs flush mount

DA mask...+ .75”
