My son is in the Navy and just purchased a Smith and Wesson M&P 15 at the Marine corps exchange. His birthday is coming up soon and I would like to get him some goodies for the gun. I think a cleaning mat for sure, possibly extra mags. Any other suggestions out there in AR15 land?

Get him a gift card for Primary Arms or PSA, or something like that. This way he can get what he wants, not what you think he wants/needs.

For less than $150 buy the following. Ambidextrous Safety, Extended Bolt Catch, Enhanced Magazine Release, Hogue Pistol Grip, Angled or Vertical Foregrip, Chrome Takedown Pins, Extended Charging Handle, H2 Tungsten Buffer Weight. These items will keep him busy for an hour and get him well acquainted with his new best friend!
