SG Ammo has the Swiss  Saltech 7.62 x 51 at 560/$279. and 20/$10.95  ... with a try at this price for better than ave M80 range/other casual military ball ammunition in an AR10 ?

I think I can do worse for $.50-.55 than Swiss ammunition, in other words.

https://www.sgammo.com/product/308-win-762x51-ammo/20-round-box-762x51mm-150-grain-fmj-swiss-military-ball-ammo-made-switze

SG Ammo says 2018 Headstamps.

Thank you -

having this same debate...Swiss as mentioned above, or

Austrian Surplus 7.62 146gr:  https://www.midwayusa.com/product/109678/military-surplus-austrian-ammunition-762x51mm-nato-146-grain-full-metal-jacket-battle-packs-of-240-12-boxes-of-20?utm_source=one-day-sale&utm_medium=email&utm_content=main-image-link&utm_campaign=milsurp-762x51-109678

42 cents/rd and free shipping, BUT, I am not sure how good this stuff is.  Has good reviews on vendor site.

For me, will be used in DPMS G2 with Rainier premium barrel, not a bolt gun.

Anyone used both or have input?  Thanks!

I can't speak of the Swiss, although it did peak my interest when I got the SGammo announcement.
Hirtenberger hands down is some of the best mil surp in this caliber. Not much more to say. I've got it stacked it deep already or I'd be all over this buy.
If you're looking for reloadable brass this batch isn't what you want. 80's mfg had both boxer and berdan. Getting the boxer always seemed to be hit and miss.

You want me to see if he'll send some for testing? I'm pretty much closed up shop for ammo testing for the next few months, but if you don't mind the potential sub 50F test weather, I can probably brave the cold for a few hrs to test it.

Price just went back up. Added to my cart at 10pm, woke up at 2 am and decided to FO and the price was 150 again.

Buffman, email sent.

I can help with the Swiss and have some original 90's  8M3  7.62 x 39 that needs testing... If interested, sir.

Take Care and I am ordering some Swiss now for  "testing".

If it is anything like the Swiss Ruag SS109 I have it will be great ammo. The Ruag is the most accurate milspec ammo I have ever shot. An honest 1.5moa ammo with a TA33 equipped AR.

I only bought 100rounds to test and it went OOS by the time I was ready to buy a truckload

Buffman,

Any Velocity numbers/SD, or accuracy observations, sir ?

I am going to FINALLY make it to my outdoor 100yd range this Saturday to see how this Swiss shoots, etc etc etc and compare to the South African 1980 that is consistent for me, at 2 MOA.

My layman's feedback will follow.

Peace to All,  Proudfather77

^ Still playing with it. It has been running good for me. There was a pin for the mag release counterweight that fell out. I need to get ahold of them for a revised replacement.

Thank You Buffman ! Great video.
I may have to grab some of that.
Was you ammo at outside temp or warmer when you shot?

It had been sitting in the ammo box outside for about 2hrs before I shot it. I'm not sure how long it takes ammo to adjust to the outside temps.
