Title sums it up.

While fairly savvy on the actual rifles, ammo, mags, sights, etc, I've never really delved into the world of slings and such.  Back in my Army deployment days, ( and being a former Washingtonian, ) I'd initially came into contact with Tactical Tailor slings and was happy with those.

Fast forward many moons later, I'm living here in Georgia and have always heard mention of Blue Force Gear, ( especially since they're local to me ) but I have no experience with any of their gear.  What's the feed back on their stuff from y'all here?  The good, the bad and the ugly.  Lay it on me!

I think the BFG Vickers sling is still the standard by which all are judged. I have two and will be buying a third shortly.

This right here.  I have around 7 of them with two on duty guns.  They've always served me well.  Great product for the money

BFG Vickers sling is on 5 of my rifles.  There is no better for a general purpose AR.

Agree with all of the above, BFG is good to go.

Ok, cool.  Thanks for the replies!

So most dig BFG and their slings.

Now, which one to get?

I see where some recommended the Vickers and after eye-balling them some, the padded version looks like a good way to go for me.

Any other models recommended?

Initially, this would go on my SIG 516.  As far as uses:  perhaps down the road, getting back into some 3-gun, but mostly just in case of any zombie apocalypse flash mobs after a natural disaster/home defense, etc.

I like the regular one, although I have one padded.  Not a fan for whatever reason, I like the regular better

I don't know if I need to mod it mine but I've got a padded VCAS and it's a little longer than I like with just a T shirt.  Works just fine over a chest rig.  I'm 5'11"/185/tailored 44 long for jackets so it may work better for you.

The non-padded options are less bulky and store more easily on the rifle, so +1 for non-padded.

I sell a ton of Troy VTAC slings at work. Are the BFG slings better? My average customer has an AR with thermal or NV (so hunting) so they enjoy the padding and quick release buckle.

I want to sell them the best so if I should be looking at BFG let me know.

I would recommend to at least check them out or actually get some to try out.

Everything BFG makes is top notch.

I've tried VTAC, Magpul, and some others I can't remember. Been only running BFG slings for the last 5-6 years. Original padded VCAS is worn but still works.

BFg sling is the best sling on the market.

Also, single points are 110% worthless.

If I buy the BFG sling do I need to buy anything else besides a QD socket mount for my rail?

It depends on what you buy.

You can buy the standard one without any attachments on. If you get this, you can use it on pretty much anything with the right adapters and QD sling swivels.

https://www.blueforcegear.com/vickers-sling

You can also buy ones with the QD sling swivels sewed directly into the sling. You gain a less compact and easier sling system this way, but less versatility as you're stuck with QD swivels.

I have Vickers BFG on all my carbines, non padded of course.
One of them has the swivels sewn in, I don't like that so much.
I find that the slings are a bit too long as they come, and with the sewn in swivels I can't take a little off ( without cutting the stitches and having them resewn).

I purchased one at the last minute while checking out at my gun store...

Now I need some good trading on how to effectively use the sling...

Any advice?  YouTube videos?

Thanks,

Yep, the are the standard for me.  Although I haven’t used another sling besides the BFG for like 8-10 years.  I have them on my ARs, my AK and my scorpion.  The multi cam black is pretty sweet looking sling.  I have all the multi cam colors just because and also have both krypek colors just because.

BFG is near or at the top of the pile when it comes to slings and pouches. I'll always check them out first if I need something.

BFG are my favourite slings, and Ive tried all the "name" brands except for the Proctor. I have them on all of my rifles including one that goes up to 10lbs depending on optic etc and find I dont need the padding. Thats a preference thing I suppose.
There are also aftermarket slip on pads like by HSGI that can always be added after if you felt the need.
