I'm interested in purchasing a basic, inexpensive, at least fairly robust AR-15 sling. Recommendations?

I use a Viking Tactics Wide (Padded) sling and really like it.
My buddy swears by his Ferro Concepts Slingster |

They make them themselves in TX
Picked up 2 paired with Braudel 1” D loop sling swivels KISS as can be $29 If you order and don’t get a shipping email right away they are literally sewing them up and will ship out asap. I called and asked and was told my second one (ordered on a different day last Tuesday) was being made over this weekend. They won’t charge you till it ships out. I have an OD Green one in hand (was in stock) and I have no complaints. https://unitedstatestactical.com/c1-2-to-1-point-tactical-sling/ |

VTAC Bungee or a BFG Vickers
I prefer the bungee but do also have a Vickers |

I have the Larue padded sling, Blue Force gear and ferro concepts slingster. The slingster is my favorite

If you want to be able to use your sling for support a really good basic sling is the Magpul RLS. You can sling up Rhodesian quick loop style or cinch it down around your arm 1907 style. It's also priced really well at $25.

I have a Vickers on 1 rifle and ordered another [ the latest gen] for another AR and I'm a bit pissed at BFG right now because they are listed as in stock on website but Ive been billed and it's been a month now and for the last 3 weeks they have been telling me they are building it and it will ship by Friday [3 times I have heard that!]
Apparently, they have a supply issue with the push button ends But they are listed as IN STOCK on their website which is clearly not true. SO buyer beware. I will give them until Friday and then I'm done with them, if they don't come through then they are not a company I will do business with. |

I have more BFG slings than others. One magpul, and just got the Edgar Sherman design sling - which is really nice.

I received my Vickers sling from Blue Force Gear today! It’s a really great product,I looked at the sling on my other rifle and it’s a Viking Tactic, and while it is very well made and the adjuster buckle is metal and very sturdy, the new one is a marvel of design, it’s SO easy to adjust!
Pricey yes, took a month to get, yes, but it’s a really nice sling. BFG sent me a couple stickers, a pen , and a hat, presumably to apologize for the delay. |

Quoted: You have $150,000 tied up in 3 slings? View Quote You have any idea as to what it costs to raise a kid to the age of 18+ and send 'em to college? Granted, for my $150k or so so I also got some nice artwork, some really well done tie dye shirts, and some baby sitting for the other 2 kids.... |

I don't own a BFG but I've used them a decent bit on a couple friend's rifles. They're really great slings and you can't go wrong with one. That said, I got a good deal on a slingster that somebody sold on the EE for cheap because they dyed it (doesn't have to look pretty, just has to not drop my rifle) and I immediately went looking for more on the EE for my other rifles. I think the quality is the same but at a slightly lower price point.
OP, if it were me I'd look for a higher quality used sling, you'll get more for your money. If you buy new keep in mind a lot of them won't come with QD attachments so an "inexpensive" $20 sling is now $40+ since you can cheap out on QDs (but you shouldn't). OR... you could just buy a higher quality used one with all the hardware already off the EE, ebay, whatever. |

BFG Vickers. These are the best sling to me. I have tried the magpul but their webbing is a bit “slippery” for my taste. Buy one from a reputable 3rd party. BFG order fulfillment sucks ballz. I have been waiting 4 weeks for a sling they said was in stock and they are an hour away.

I have a BlueFG, a Magpul, a Viking Tactics and a Blackhawk sling. They all work pretty well and are built tough. These are all collected over the last 15-20 years. If I had to choose one if I was doing it again it would be the Magpul w/the 2 to 1 accessory. It's simple, bombproof and less expensive than the BlueFG. Price is the only thing holding back the BlueFG otherwise they would be even IMO. Hope this helps.

My choice is BFG Vcas non padded, just bought 2 more bringing my total to 4. Purchased the last 2 from BFG for $50.00, cheaper than Amazon.

I've tried a lot of slings over the years...single point.... 3 point, many different 2 points
VTAC...GI... When the dust cleared, all my AR's wear BFG VCAS slings. I find all the other slings are just a varied copy with some sort of strap or other apparatus that allows you to adjust the sling length, whether its a Slingster, Magpul,VTAC, etc. using the old ALICE pack QD shoulder strap with a piece of 550 cord to lift it up and pull it down to lock/unlock.(for those of you who never had a Med/Lg ALICE ruck sack issued to you....) After all, there are only so many ways to make a 2 pt. sling. I think Larry and BFG's design with the cloth strap is the best of the bunch. smooth, tangle free with out getting caught up on stuff. You can make a loop and do a hasty sling for precision. adjust tight for T-Shirt wear or open up for Body armor wear. I have one of the original ones with metal and it has held up great over the years. I have both the metal and plastic slider version. both work well. All have the QD swivels added. They have withstood the test of time for me and it's all I use. Just my experience and opinion. |

its personal preference.
out of the BFG, Slingster, Magpul and Haley D3 sling that i own id have to choose the D3. |
|
All the "Get this one!" and "No, that one sucks, get this other one!" is great if you're a sling expert, I guess. I'm not. So, my question is, "Why?"
Why get this one instead of that one? |
