Some years ago there was, unless I am mistaken, an 22lr AR which was sold with what was basically a standard AR lower. Anyone recall this and have any info?
The CMMG uppers and conversion kits work with standard AR lowers. They probably sell a complete 22 rifle too. I've always used them instead of getting proprietary stuff like the M&P15-22.
Chiappa, at least made an upper. I owned one for awhile.
We have to protect our phoney baloney jobs here, gentlemen! We must do something about this immediately! Immediately! Immediately! Harrumph! Harrumph! Harrumph!
IIRC, back (10 years or so ago) when Spike's Tactical sold .22LR uppers and conversion units, they also sold a complete ST-22 rifle. Feel free to correct me if I'm not remembering correctly.

This is correct. You can use a complete ST-22 .22 LR upper on a standard AR lower with the “CMMG-style” magazines. As someone else mentioned, I like this idea better than a proprietary option like the M&P 15-22.
