I have been debating buying a Primary Arms SLx 1x micro prism for a little while now and I think the one thing that is holding me back is the big knob on the side of it for illumination of the reticle. Makes no sense to have a big knob like that when most optics are going to buttons. I have a lot of optics with buttons on the side and back of them and no issues of hitting them and causing a problem.
Who thinks that it's time to do a Gen III and eliminate those knobs? I want to put one on my A2 AR-15, AK-47, Mossberg 930 and maybe my Mossberg 500, but I just can't get over that big knob on the side of it. I know shooting with both eyes open that I shouldn't see it, but come on, its right there! @PrimaryArms is there a chance that this could be in the works? A micro prism without that knob? I will admit that this optic is a home run, but if that knob was not there, it would be a bases loaded home run all day long. |

The knob shadows out. I was worried about it before I got one but it’s really a non issue.
That said, they need an integrated red dot mount. Easier illumination adjustment wouldn’t be a bad idea either. |

The illumination knob is also where the battery resides...if they added buttons for illumination there would still be a protuberance somewhere on the optic for the battery. If they added a battery tray underneath, that would likely interfere with the ACOG-style mounting they use.

I didn't think about the battery. Maybe a smaller battery tray somewhere. I actually wouldn't mind the knob on the top of the optic like the Trijicon MRO.

I prefer knobs over buttons all day and every day. I also hate touch screen controls in cars.

I'd like to see it have a T2 footprint.

The mini acog footprint has way more available options for cantilever and QD. What does the t2 footprint do that the mini acog footprint doesn't do for you? |

Prisms need a pattern made for correct eye relief. The only cantilever mount I could find for the T2 was some wish.com contraption. |

I think that's the ONLY thing t2 has that the mini acog footprint doesn't- raising the optical centerline to 2.91". |

Technically doesn't 7075 aluminum use zinc as an alloying agent? |

View Quote Thanks for pointing this one out - I picked up two of them with the BRC reticle. I like them a lot and serves the role of an RDS with an etched reticle + adj. diopter very well. |
