I am looking at a used barrel that used to have a pinned gas block on it. Is there a way to take a new, undrilled gas block and drill it out to pin it to the barrel or is this too much trouble to make it worth it? I am open to having to send it out if necessary. Thanks all.

Kind of a pricey investment if you're only going to do one, but if you have a few, it might be worth it.

It can be done.

The result being 100% identical is slim and majorly dependent on one's skill set and method. My suggestion would be to weld the pin channel closed, reprofile the bbl, and match drill with new GB.

JT at Retro Arms Works is an excellent choice if searching for a skilled smith.

Thanks for the suggestions, gentleman. I figured welding may be in order. I probably should have reached out to Retro Arms Works initially. I think this is the route I’m going to go. Appreciate the advice.
