I recently purchased a Daniel Defense upper that has a pinned and welded flash hider on a 14.5" barrel.  I have a muzzle device that I prefer and have access to a tig welder and will replace the DD flash hider for what I prefer.

My question is, what do you recommend to get the flash hider already pinned to it off?  I've used a Dremel in the past but with the money I spent on this upper I want to make sure I don't F it up.

Of course I do realize I could take it to a gun smith but I only want to do so if there aren't any better options than a Dremel.

Last one I did, I used the Dremel, then split it with a chisel, what type of flash hider does it currently have on it, that can make a difference in how you approach a removal.

Let me get some pics uploaded.  It's a Daniel Defense flash hider.

You need to use img tags, not url tags. When I visited your link and "copied image source" it gave me the following static URL: https://i.imgur.com/JBRq2hh.jpg

To answer your question, I use a grinder (or dremel if that's all you've got access to) to take off the top of the pin where it's welded. That will often let the pin drop free or be gently worked out. If it won't come peacefully, you'll have to split the muzzle device from the free end and crack it in two with a cold chisel. I use a bandsaw in that circumstance, but you can get it done with a dremel, too.

Circuits state exactly what I would do, grind off the top of that weld and often times the pin will drop out and then you just unscrew the hider.

Thanks for the pic help.  I'll just take my time with primitive tools.
