Has anyone used these before? Primary Weapon Systems RATCHET LOCK CASTLE NUT and end plate.

I bought one about 4 builds ago. Liked it so much I just kept using them for every build since. Super easy. Just screw it on and ratchet it down. No staking needed. No fuss.  Downside is the cost compared to a standard castle nut.

Last one I bought was around $15. But wow, prices have skyrocketed. Up to $40 now. Not sure if it is worth it at that price, but figured I would share my experience with the product.

Also a fan of them. Last order brownells had them at $20.

They were great until my local guy rung me up the other day... 2 for $82. I'm done building for a while, but that almost guaranteed I won't be using them anymore.

They’re $40 at that link.

I like em.  Have used several, no problems.  Thousands of rounds, classes, etc.  Recommended.

I like em a lot. The Fortis K2 is my second favorite.

Glad to hear y'all like them, just got one in the mail this week along with their buffer tube.

Mine flash rusted so I junked it and replaced it with an FCD and staked it properly.

I can see it if you plan on swapping buffer tubes a lot, but for $30 less I will just stake another castle nut.

I've used the Lantac equivalent on a build. Held up well - its a good design but you still need to torque it down. The nut is held in place but if it's not given appropriate torque, it's not going to retain things properly.

Very much so a "nice to have but by no means necessary" part.

My go to on all my builds.

$40? I'll pass. Why would that of all things double in price?

It's on sale at PWS today for $28.

"Sale"
Most of these "sales" are just showing pre covid prices.

I have one and like it.  Not light (if that matters) but I like not having to stake and knowing I can remove it easy.

CHRIST ON A CUPCAKE!!  I've never encountered a website that makes it SO difficult to purchase something.  It took me forever to register because it repeatedly stated the CAPTCHA (dumbest thing EVER created) is incorrect...and I'm entering it case-sensitive exactly as I see it.  Finally got it correct and now it says I must wait for a confirmation email, which hasn't arrived (but the password reset email did??).

Obviously they dont want my money.  Fuck em.

With $17 as the cheapest shipping option!
I object to that on principle alone.

Should be on every AR. At least a generic affordable version, 40 is steep.

Yeah. That is absurd. Is that a tactic to get you to buy more items from them in a single order?

I believe Mike @ Fortress Tactical has them for $29 shipped. I don't believe he charges tax outside of NC, but I'm not an accountant.

Of just torque it to 40 ft/lbs and don’t. It ain’t coming loose.

Agree.  But you don't even have to hit 40

I don’t like that the QD socket is proud of the face. But I have two and they work. I’m about to swap the tube on the second one so at least I don’t have to restake or use locktite blue.

Dvor now has them for $27 if anyone is interested.  I'm still gonna hold on to my wallet.  Not worth the "squeeze" IMO

Milspec castle nut and stake it.   Cheaper and less to wrong.

And it’s removeable.   Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not.   Easily done.

The ratchet is cool in concept, forward thinking.   But the milspec is perfectly fine and way cheaper.

There is always one.

How is there less to go wrong? I'd say a bad staking is more likely to happen than the ratchet loosening.

The ratchet is removable too, easily too. And you don't have to do anything special to re-use. Faster on and off, and back on.

Perfectly fine sure, no one said otherwise. But products like these are just better, particularly if you make use of the QD.

I really like the one I have, but the cost increase has stopped me from buying more. They are a nice piece of kit though.
