Bought a used Police Surefire M500a on a whim even though I've never had carbine upper. The second I unwrapped the light, I knew I needed to start a new build around it.

It balances nicely. Even better without the rail covers but I worry about heat.

I just put together 2 of these, 7.5 inch 5.56. Combat Armory kit what was on sale for $195, added an Anderson lower on sale for $29.

I don’t have any suppressors but wanted to try a really short barrel. I didn’t want a bunch of money in it in case I hated it. It could be a fun pistol, but I’m afraid to carry it in the woods bc if I ever shot it without hearing pro I would be deaf. The blast is pretty violent as well but that doesn’t bother me.

My latest stick - trying to fill in some holes (14.5 w FSB) in the armory while the prices are right.

14.5" BCM CHF mid-length upper

Magpul rear sight scavenged from a Magpul Colt 6920

Took it out for the first run today and it ran 100% with Wolf Gold, LC M193, old Spanish SS109 & Win 62g OTP (the Swedish stuff). Probably the best iron sight groups I've ever shot at 50 yds too. Nice tight ejection pattern at about 4:30 as well. Success!

Current build that is a work in progress, since I have already built an A2 w/ a FN 20” barrel, a M4 with a Colt 14.7”
barrel and then a pistol build, I figured I would build something that is a mix of what I like wrapped up in one build.

As it sits right now, and going as quick as the funds allow me:

This is my first full build, done without a vise which was a pain in the ass. The A2 FH isn't torqued/clocked, got a VG6 Gamma on the way to replace it. The only thing I screwed up was chipping the castle nut when my armorer's wrench slipped. No optic yet, not sure what I want, stuck between something like the sig romeo or the eotech xps2-0.

Love those TactiCool ARs, got myself a few, but I wanted something more retro... So how about a Colt Commando-like PDW?

A1 upper from the 1960s
M16A1 lower from the early 1970s
Colt M16 bolt carrier from the same era
repro three(!) position telescopic stock with H2 buffer
repro six hole handguard, A1 pistol grip and delta ring
Bushmaster carbine barrel cut down to 12" (Finnish minimum for a rifle barrel is 300 mm, just under 12")
A1 birdcage flash hider.

Pleasing to my eye and fun to shoot

I had a 11.5 inch barrel laying around and it turned into this. Not intended to be a clone of anything, I just think it looks cool.
