im using a 16in barrel with 1:7 twist rate been using some cheap m193 and just bought some m855 I zeroed in the rifle with m193
with the velocity differences tho it is low should i be worried about my POI being different between rounds?

Depends.
Shooting off a bench with scope you might see a slight drop at 100-200 yds. Shooting with irons or offhand I doubt the ballistic difference is noticeable amidst the other variables. At least it is not for me. The further you go out, the better the heavier M855 should do in spite of higher muzzle velocity of the m193.

For plinking or self defense I just use the same sight setting out to 100 yds. An unsupported hold has much more variation than the two different loads.

At shorter ranges you probably won't see any real difference.

The vertical string I get from M193 is usually bigger than the poi difference between the loads.  In other words, my 1.5" M855 group fits somewhere within my 3-4" M193 vertical string.  This is at 100yds.

Off a bench at 100 yards I've noticed the M855 is usually 1-2" left of the POI of M193.

Short answer, yes.  Every type of ammo will be a little different.   Even different brands of M855 or M193 will be different.

As other said, will it be significant?

Depends why you're shooting and how you're shooting.

For example,  I may zero a rifle with, say, a 77gr round, but use bulk 55gr for practice under 50 yards.

For me it's about 1-2" right and 1" lower with M855 vs M193 (w/20" AUG)

I zeroed with 55gr.. 62-75gr usually have a lower POI.. for some odd reasons the 69gr bthp go 2-3 to the right..

OP
Every ammo and every barrel is different.. you should test you poa/poi

OP:
As others have said.... you need to shoot it in your rifles under your conditions....
No way around it.....
The "book" answer will be a guess, there are too many variables to influence it.

My applications are home/self defense. Not a big hunter but might take it out to shoot some wild boars (since they are such a big problem in florida) and would probably use m855 to better pernitrate the boar

Live in an apartment building so max i would shoot out to is 25-50 yrds been thinking of using the 36yrd zero so in that 1 off chance i need to pull out my rifle from my car i can reach far out and in which case i would like to use m855 b/c of the ballistics advantage
and m193 for practice. Don't have much m193 left in my supply so once i run out of it ill re zero my rifle with m855 but that wont be for a while

zero to literally any distance

know that zero

know your holds before and after the zero

practice shooting at different ranges

it's not rocket science
