Sup Nerds.

Muh Feet by LanceCriminal86, on Flickr

Who had the breakdown of the ACE SOCOM generations? This one was advertised as Gen 2, tube was a bit wobbly in my Brownells A1 and I had to use some teflon tape to tighten it up. When I borrowed @Samson-Dogg 's his was rock solid. Maybe the carbine tube I got was a bit out of stock and that's why it was cheap, but it will do the job for now.

The consensus here is that the square is Gen 1 but the lady at Blackrifle specialist (makers) said round Gen 1, square Gen 2  They still selling the Gen 2 on GB but it's the long version.

Does anyone know if M1 knobs can be changed out to M3's? I shot an email to Leupold, but thought I'd ask in here in case anyone has done it.

Leupold did it for mines but it was M1 to M2.  If I remember correctly it was around $130 and took about 6 weeks.

With the cost of that, I can pick up one that's already M3 and I wouldn't have to wait. Guess I'll keep shopping.

Took the first step and ordered a FDE SOPMOD stock today.

It'll be a long road. That's what I love about the AR platform, I can get a piece here and there as money allows.

Because it's a Holland   and I've been thinking about doing 6.8 for some time anyway, I am looking at Bison's Ops profiled barrel.

How important is having the illuminated rectile? Found a Mk4 3.5-10 without illum for $800. Can't remember the last time I've used illum on anything else I own, but if I'm going to drop the coin I want it to be correct.

Page 1 says illuminated.  It won't bother me a bit 3.5-10 w/o illumination as that is what I had at first until I put on the 2.5-8 illumination  Your last sentence says it all so you will want illumination.

Shit...yeah, you're right. I was just looking at the list and didn't even look at the pics again. No real plans for NV though. You suck on that price.

ETA: And in a LT-104 which is what I'm using right now.

ETAA: And I forgot to mention it already has the 308 turret. Was only mounted on a display rifle, never fired.

There are at least three real deal pics on page one of non-illuminated Leupolds. The pics may be of the same rifle; LaRue mount, MRDS on an offset mount, and similar dark brown camo streaks across the lower and suppressor.  Two pics show Magpul ACS stocks one pic shows a SOPMOD.

https://imageshack.com/a/img923/6875/0QCNsQ.jpg

This pic looks like it may be a non-illuminated model but is kind of hard to tell with the shadow. It also has the same scope mount, mrds, and camo streaks.

So according to the gentleman who carried the above said Mod H with non-Illum 3.5-10 and offset Docter, that was one of the Premier Reticles converted Vari-X/Mk4 with the Gen 2 MilDot, pulled from an M24.

He's one of the proprietors at KRG Ops, so keep eyeballs on their IG and ask questions, he's pretty good about answering. For a while he ran it with an A2 grip and Magpul ACS, and later on it seems with a Sierra SPR grip and FDE Gen I SOPMOD.

I mostly like Vietnam era stuff but dig all of the military clone threads.    The lightweight parts, latest greatest rail, and fancy rapid fire trigger threads...not so much.

Congratulations.

If you don't mind me asking, how long is this scope?

I am shopping for a correct-ish MK4 2.5-8x36 for my Mod1 and it occurred to me that my current VXR Patrol 3-9x40 might make a stand in for the non-illuminated scope from a distance on the Holland W.I.P.

My FDE SOPMOD came in yesterday, one part down. LOL

I bought my own ACOG a dozen years or so ago while I was in the Army. The finish is missing on the rear housing due to it always hitting the NVG mounting plate on my helmet.

Thank you.

The VXR is 13 1/4" with Butler Creek caps. Oh well, close enough at 15'. The profile pics of these two scopes looks very similar. Funny, I don't think it will bother me as much on a Holland as it does the Mod 1, especially since the Mod 1 is my screen saver pic. I am not planning on a 5.56 barrel anyway, since I discovered Holland was the same gentleman behind the development of 6.8 spc.

Nice wall art by the way.

Get some of that camo wrap/tape stuff to kinda obscure the ocular end a bit and it would be pretty passable.

It was the first thing I bought for the new house and knew the perfect spot would be over the fireplace. She was none too happy, but since I let her do whatever she wants with every other room she couldn't really put up a fight. Plus, most folks that come over comment on how nice it looks.

Thread bump time. I took a little bit of a break from the threads but I've still been shooting the crap out of my clones (atleast the H anyways). Been playing catch up on the threads and saw Lance was trying to get measurements off a Noveske barrel. Did you get what you need? Another cloner I know somehow got his hands on one and if you need something from it I might be able to help you out. Trying to get him to post some pics up in here for all to see.

tell him to send it back to Noveske with a note that says "see, you DID and CAN make these, now make em"

pretty prick-ish of them to act like a small custom shop, then deny a batch order for something they literally MADE already, while at the same time boasting on instagram about how freakin' COOL they are, working there. if they took the time to make some ops profiled contours instead of "look how cool we are at work" videos every week, I'd have a freakin' correct part. Rule 1 is look cool, rule 2 is DO WORK.

It sure seems that near the end and since John's passing Noveske just became a lifestyle company. I think their former PR/Marketing gal is the one that started EraThr3, and they're basically just a lifestyle brand that rebrands other people's stuff.

Honestly kids, I'd just do Bison or Douglas tubes, White Oak, whatever. If I can finish getting those Noveske measurements maybe have someone reputable spin you a blank with that exact profile, coat it FDE, and be happy.
