I presume that the "problem" with the MK16 would happen with most if not all small diameter M-LOK rails. Would a 7075 Hodge fair better? Maybe. Does it matter in the real world? Nothing has came out about it from USASOC. The only way to know for sure if one rail is better than another is if a third party did independent standardized testing. I'm totally up for this but I can't afford to buy a bunch of rails just to smash them up. Even with a ton of data from drop tests, it wouldn't tell you what is good enough only what is best. If these rails bent on a regular basis and caused a loss of zero then don’t you think the guys that can get whatever they want would drop them in a heartbeat? I do. Great point. Guess im gonna take the gamble. I don’t see how it’s a gamble, I built one when the rails were first available out side of complete uppers from Brownells. I built it using a non chamfered MK12 gas block and it’s what, one or two years old now? It’s been my go to rifle around the property, and goes coyote hunting all the time. It’s been banged up, tossed around, and I have had zero issues. Granted it doesn’t have a MAWL, or really any other addons, but my point is simple, it works, I’m not in combat, and if for some reason it does get bent, well I’ll deal with it then, until then, I’m enjoying it much more than my Block 2. |

Whatever you do when searching for a mk16 or urg-i, stay away from Charlies Custom clones.
They will take your money, and maybe ship you an incorrect upper 1 year later. Maybe. |

Yeah I’ve heard a lot of bad stuff about Charlie’s. They usually have much higher prices than everyone else too.
It’s a bummer the 13.5 mk16 is sold out everywhere and the only rails/uppers I can find on my local forum have 9.5 rails. |

I guess I'll tag since this is my next build, whenever I can get parts.

Got lucky and picked up a second URGI near clone the other day...one randomly popped up on gunbroker. Keep looking, they're still out there. Albeit at ridiculous prices.
My first one wears a T2, second one will soon have a Razor 1-6. |

Hey y’all, what would be considered a good price for clone correct URG-I? Looking at getting another one, and I haven’t really been tracking the going-ons with current availability.

That particular rail was only available on Duty URGs in black until just now. The Super Duty rail isn't a true MK16. The only MK16 that's been issued so far is the 13.5". Maybe a few COTS or testing of the 9.3" and the 10.5" is supposedly in the pipeline. |

View Quote Your photos have pushed me over the edge to start piecing together an 11.5” URGI to go with my 14.5”. I’ve got the lower already stamped (a McKay that’s not currently being used) and just snagged a new MSI CAGE code marked upper receiver to use. I’m going to order the barrel direct from Daniel Defense and will eventually track down a 10.5” MK16. I think I’m going to go with an EXPS3-0 for the optic but I’m not 100% sure yet. Going to pace myself on this build, still have to recover from buying the Razor 1-10 for the 14.5”. |

I typically shoot nose to charging handle. I’m also used to the short eye relief of 4x ACOG’s and Elcan’s. All of that makes it feel very awkward to shoot a longer eye relief scope without a pretty extended mount. With this set up I’m not quite nose to charging handle but pretty close to it. I just wish Geissele did one in 1.70 height. |
