Guessing not as they’d interfere with mounting accessories.

I actually really like the looks of the insert. Lack of steel inserts has been my biggest gripe with Geissele rails.

It’s a recent revision that’ll be rolling out to all rails.

Machined sockets in 6061 can eventually fail with heavy use. It’s rare but I’ve read about it happening more than once.

Why?  Now you don’t have to get a steel qd sling mount which clutters up the rail and adds weight

I just installed the Spuhr HRT mount on my Colt. The Spuhr mount puts the center line of the T2 at 1.615” above the rail. It’s more of a lower 1/4 height due to the small diameter of the T2 but you can still run iron sights through it. Mile High Shooting has the HRT mount in stock. It’s really nice and in my opinion it is superior to DD with the spacer. Of course it was almost a c note more

I went all in and have the ODG Fed rail coming. Here’s where I’m at:

Colt Upper - either C marked or Cage Code. Have both, have not decided yet
Colt 6933 barrel - stripped from Brownells
Colt Charging Handle
Colt BCG
Geissele Mk4 Federal in ODG
A2 flash hider
Aimpoint T2
Spuhr HRT mount

Colt M4LE factory SBR lower with the original FCG, buffer tube, and H1 buffer
Magpul ODG CTR
A2 grip

The only things I don’t have are the gas block, AFG, sights, sling, and Surefire M300. I’ll be using an Arisaka 300 I have on hand until I have funds for the M300. Still figuring out the gas block.

I found one in like new condition and really like it, much better than I originally thought.  I haven't tried it yet with Troy sights, but with a set of DD fixed irons I'd agree that it's at least lower 1/4-1/3 height.  The quality is great, and it feels super solid.  I'd buy another at this height even without HRT on the side.

Can anyone provide any info on the color of hand guards currently in use by the different groups?  I've read through about half this thread and it seems that there's at least a little disagreement on whether HRT or SWAT uses the ODG?  I'm a fan of all four colors used in the Mk4 fed rail, but would like to know with some certainty who uses what?  Anyone have links they can provide?

I read over that, and most of the thread, and there seems to be some disagreement on whether HRT uses ODG or DDC.  Most clone pics you see, here and elsewhere, are using the ODG rail with the Spuhr HRT mount, however that is contradicted in several places by those who say HRT uses the DDC rail with the Daniel Defense mount.  I was just wondering if anyone has current info that can be verified?

Don't take the clones posted here as gospel. The first page is correct, the clones are whatever people want to build.

ODG - Regional SWAT
DDC - HRT
Black - Individual Agents
Grey - Vehicle Teams

IIRC, there was an agent in this thread who verified this.

Good information!

Do you know which T1/2 mount each division uses?  Obviously HRT uses the Spuhr, but what about the others?  I realize there's some flexibility in each group regarding rifle setup, but I would love to see a list of the standard configurations each uses.

Some T1s have been seen with the Daniel Defense mount (OD regional) and Sig Romeo 4Ms with the Sig mounts (gray vehicle teams).

Someone posted a photo of an in service regional SWAT rifle that had the Spuhr mount as well. I bought my Spuhr before I saw that because I’ve had the DD in the past and wasn’t fond of it. The Spuhr mounting system is superior in every way. Now that it’s been seen in the wild, even if rare on a regional SWAT rifle, it’s “correct”.

You are using the same lower I'm using on the 2 I'm putting together. Doing a Regional Swat and HRT build. I pondered the gas block situation as for the Regional build I have a complete upper and a separate stripped barrel and gas block. pretty much talked me into going the shaved Colt FSB on both I think from a functionality standpoint

I managed to find a used stainless Super Gas Block in the EE for a reasonable price, should have it in the next few days. I'm going to dimple the stripped 6933 barrel I bought from Brownells and call it a day. From what I've gathered in this thread set screws are "correct". Shaved FSB is bomb proof though. The only reason I didn't shave my original 6933 barrel is it was a .625 and I was able to pass it along to someone who could use it. I bought a complete 6921 upper hoping it would come with a CAGE code receiver, and unfortunately it did not. So I kept the original C marked upper on my 6933 and used the BCG from the 6921.

Here's where I am now. I just received the Fed rail from Brownells and am pleased with the color. I sort of wanted the new sling swivel socket but no complaints as the color is spot on. I decided to keep the Arisaka 300 with the E1HT head and have a UE tail cap and ST07 on the way. Surprisingly this is the only not correct piece I intend to run as I'll get the Troy sights eventually. Never thought I'd clone a rifle but the FBI guns are just about perfect.

I just realized how salty that Colt mag is. It came with my 6933 when I bought it a decade ago and was new. This rifle means a lot to me and has been through a lot. The 11.5" length really is perfect. The 10.5" Fed rail is also "just right" for me as it as rails where needed and none where you don't.

lol, thanks

I’ve pieces it together over the last few years. I pieced it all together. It started with a new Gen 1 rail and I just went from there.
Those Gov ODG handles seem to be the rarity now and aren’t even clone correct. The Thenar stop is the really odd ball clone correct part

Ya, it must just be from the bad photoshopping. The ergo's without the beaver tail look like they'd line up with the receiver, whereas in the pic's it looks like it was chopped. Probably just from the editing.

Edit- idk though, this makes it look chopped?

Interesting. I wonder why they recommended he chop it off?

Eta- I wasn’t sure if I’d like the Troy alpha rail, due to negative experiences I’ve read about, but I must say it’s becoming a favorite. It locks up way tighter than I thought it would. I’ll likely have to put some loctite on the mounting screws to prevent them from backing out under recoil. I originally put an accessory rail at 6 o’clock for an afg or vfg, but it’s such a comfortable rail as is, that I may not use a vfg or afg.
