Are these markings unexpected?  3x20 mm

I would have better photos but the thing is elsewhere, Europe of all places.
But the range is metered in yards, as shown in the second photo.

Not consistent with anything I can recall seeing before, but there are a lot of wacky variations of these out there. Paint looks almost 'thick'

Looks like the Japanese ones to my untrained eye, 3x20 is always on them, I've seen different font styles.

It is legit. I have one as well. The lettering is like the 2.75x20mm ArmaLite marked scopes.

@boywonder777 - I have heard of the elusive yellow boxes, but I have  never seen one. Do you have any photos available?

M16indiana put on your hunting boots and track down a 40rd parkerized steel AR-18/180 mag with no markings on the baseplate just like the 30rd, allegedly sold by Armalite Costa Mesa in 1972 prior to the Sterling offering their 40rd mags starting in 74-75.  Minimally there must be a few "shop" mags if they never went into full production.

Challenge accepted.  I did not know they existed.  Did they look like the Costa Mesa 30’s, only longer?

I forgot to mention that the reticle should be crosshair with a thick, inverted top post.

I suspect that the Costa Mesa 40rd mag looks like the later Sterling 40rd mag minus the floorplate markings. Costa Mesa probably passed the 40rd mag design to Sterling. Never knowingly seen one but I suspect the Costa Mesa 40s were unmarked like the 30rd parkerized steel mags and most of them ended up in SE Asia. I saw the 40rd listed in a 1972 ArmaLite price list that came with a Howa AR-180. It's a pain for me to post phots here but if you want to message me your email info I'll send photos.

Yellow Identical to my Red Box

Unmarked Cardboard Box compared to my Armalite Scope.  Appears to have a different cardboard composition and slightly smaller
