Howdy, joined a few days ago but this site is pretty big and not sure where I'm supposed to be to get started. So I guess I'll post a pic of one of my carbines and wait for some criticism or get banned I guess. I like simple type AR's, 1911's and N frame Smiths but I'm really all over the map with my interests. That's about all there is to tell about me.

Like I said, not sure where I'm supposed to start here.

A beautiful car15 to me

Welcome!

It's kind of a mixmaster of parts I had, I really like the lightweight short barreled A1's of the old days. It was an upper I swapped onto an Sp1 lower. Unfortunately as a Canadian I'll probably never shoot it again, its been stripped to the bare receiver now and the parts have moved onto another rifle.

If you were to make a pot of chili, would it have beans?

No Glocks, no care.

I wouldn't put beans in chili, but is that relevant?

Thanks for the warm welcome, but are Glocks relevant in a retro AR forum? For the record, I only own one Glock currently. A G19 I bought for my daughter after she graduated high school. But I wish I still had one of the Gen 3 21's I used to have.

Considering this is the retro forum and not GD it is not relevant. OP welcome nice build!

Ok, not sure what this is about. Maybe I need to go back to my regular Canadian forums where we just say sorry and carry on.

Good job Amigo.  Seems like you got the right idea.  Welcome to the forum.  My mixmaster is a lot like yours.  I ditched the oval handguards on mine and replaced them with some skinny ones.  6 hole, 7 hole, it don't matter.  Gives the rifle a much more lighter, neater, handier, tucked in appearance IMHO.  Just saying. Have you given that a thought?

PS---As a 6th gen Texan, I'm a sucker for beans, with or without chili.

Absolutely I have, that 10.5" is my favorite due to the weight. Its moved onto a slightly different configuration since I took that pic, simply because the laws changed here and I had to change with them.

Put your thick skin on and head on over to GD.
It will all start to make sense.
And nice gun you've got there.

Thanks for replying. Not really about being thin-skinned, I just don't get some comments. My skin is thick and so is my head. And thanks for multiple people pointing me to the general discussion forum.

Wander around GD for a while. Certain themes will become obvious. Welcome and nice carbine!

Welcome. I’m one of the clueless wannabe retro builders that comes here for advice and posts stupid questions.

Sorry to hear about the Canada thing.

Welcome and my advice is to spend a bunch of time reading, learning and contributing to whatever forums you like before venturing over to general discussion.

It’s entertaining sometimes but not for the newly initiated

It's a running joke on the forum.  Some people wrongly insist on calling bean stew chili, instead of realizing that chili does not have beans in it.

Nice shooter, welcome to the forum.

Early "slab side".

Late '50s/early '60s for originals.

Think NDS did some repops as well.( Retro really isn't my strong point.)

Its a fun light carbine, slapped together with worn out old parts so it kinda patterns rather than groups. If I could put the chili thing to rest, I don't use beans but I do love corn.

Haha, no, I was just giving you shit for the 1911 comment and I can't hate on the AR so it's all I had.

Also, I have a gen 3 21 and gen 3 30 and love them both.  They just fit my hands so well.

Ha, that’s a good one. Don’t take offense, the comments are just tongue in cheek in good humor.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing pics of your beautiful CAR.
