Hello there, looking to build a rifle loosely based off of the m4 carbine platform, with my own modern touches based on the things I’ve grown to like/dislike after modifying my M&P 15 II to hell and back. I’ll post of a picture of its current state.
The future build is going to be my main rifle to grab when I practice, explore the wilderness, SHTF, etc. Call it a Jack of all trades, if you will.
Basics:
My acog RCO, BCM 12 inch handguard, magpul furniture, trigger, stream light, and other accessories will be moving to the new rifle. The smith will be returned to stock and left alone.
Looking to do a 14.5 inch barrel, haven’t decided on mid/carbine length yet, or brand, opinions wanted here.
For the BCG I’m considering the Lantac E-BCG, toolcraft carrier with better bolt, or open to any suggestions.
For the receiver set, I’m really looking at going for the Geissele DDC set. I really enjoy the tanodized look. Can anyone comment on the fit and finish of these? I know a little bit of upper/lower receiver wiggle is normal, but the somewhat excessive amount on my smith rifle really bothers me. Also looking at a KAC or MARS lower but these are relatively expensive to me, when I could throw that extra money into a better BCG or barrel. Can anyone justify the cost over a “normal” mil spec lower?
Any other advice/input?
Thanks a bunch.
