I have had the Revolution 16.5" gas piston since April of this year and just crossed the 1000+ round mark today. I definitely recommend the 3.5 lb flat trigger and a bi-pod. That being said I found this guns 1 major flaw today, the bolt hold open button design. I have pictures but don't know how to upload. It fell out and fortunately I was on a mat or else I may have not even noticed it because its so small. It's held on by a .0002 cent toothed washer that popped off and fortunately stayed in the lower until I got home and was able to dissemble and flip over for it to fall out. Thinking about trying to find a c ring as a replacement. I shoot Federal Premium gold medal Berger 185 grain juggernaut match rounds, may be a little to much for this little .308. Any thoughts?

https://pof-usa.com/product/ambi-bolt-catch-assembly/

I was pretty excited about POF's Gen4 lowers. Most "ambi" lowers don't have an ambi bolt hold open, POF, LWRC, and LMT do. I thought POF's idea was ok untill I saw the part itself with the little clip. As far as ARs go, I think the LMT/LWRC right side paddle is a better way of doing it. The XCR, ACR, LAR8 way is even better but that's neither here nor there.

I have had the exact opposite experience with POF. Now - if you want royally awful CS, S&W will be your huckleberry!

Vaporware.

I want videos of it running hard. Full auto, with some drum mags. Then I'll be colored impressed.

Piston is a more surefire way of getting reliability. Straight gas, i would be concerned with pressure issues in the upper with it being downsized so much. Im really curious of the longevity of everything.

Really awesome concept though.

There is nothing about moving to regular stoner gas system that will increase odds of a catastrophic failure from overpressure.  Thickness of bolt, lugs, chamber will all be the same.

Gas systems of 308 SBRs w stoner gas system work fine.

This things carrier will have same OD, expansion chamber ID and gas rings as an ar15

So did the fastener break or it just came loose?

My only concern with the Revolution is the thin lugs on the bolt...POF is my 2nd favorite gun maker...my 1st is LMT.

According to the many "Are Piston ARs finally obsolete" thread contributors, Piston guns are 87% less reliable, 87% heavier and a major cause of Eugene Stoner rolling in his grave!

Updates?

Did some googling but nothing new. Money in hand waiting on the pistol version. Super tempted to go ahead and get the standard Revolution.

I'm really anticipating the release of the POF Revolution DI in 6.5 Creedmoor, but am wondering if they fixed their past reliability/feeding issues? Was it Piston related, how would the DI run? They have all the features a person could want, but if it doesn't run reliably, it's not much good.  Does anyone know if any of these issues were addressed by POF?

Lots of them but either no pics or stock pics off of the POF website. Thinking maybe a preorder from distributors who haven't got them yet? Hopefully means they should be showing up very soon.

I've been around AR 308's for a long time now, and I do not recall ever reading or hearing a reliability issue with POF.

I don't want to put POF in a bad light as I know they have above par quality products, but there seems to be a common issues with feeding and extraction/ejections.  Below are a few examples (some of were POF's prior gen models), however, just like any manufacture or rifle, I'm sure there's always lemons out there and the negative responses are posted more often than the good.  I'm really interested in what they offer, but don't want to experience issue after issue and hear POF generally doesn't have the best customer service.

Nutnfancy - Youtube - 308 Piston Revolution - Had some issues, see thoughts towards end of video. Several users commented about their personal issues. (just lemons?)

I’ve owned... 5 or 6? P308 rifles, all piston. They don’t always like hot loads suppressed but the most recent iteration now has a 5-position adjustable gas block instead of 3 and that seems to have remedied the problem. I’ve never had a bad P308 but they’ve all been gen 3 or 4. Rifles prior to gen 3 had issues but I think it’s been at least a decade.

ETA: I’ve dealt with POF customer service 3 times that I can recall. Only once was for a problem. On every occasion they “under promised, over delivered.” I recommend without hesitation.

ETA s’more: damn, think I need another one.

I hope they come out with a 16.5" 6.5 Creedmoor version. Would make a handy suppressed deer rifle.

Not from me.  I picked up my Revolution just prior to Christmas, got the scope mounted, zeroed, and then went through a few hundred rounds of various .308 with zero issues except two FTEs.  My son had a couple rounds fail to extract, but we couldn't figure out the issue; it only happened twice with him (can you limp wrist a rifle?).  His 100 lb. girlfriend went through two mags and loved it.

Anyone know if the claimed "compatibility" with AR15 handguards means we can replace the factory handguard with any AR15 freefloat that works with billet uppers...?

I know I could call POF, but I'm being lazy and asking here instead.

Yes....... pretty sure. The Revolution uses the sam bcg, same diameter bolt, and the same diameter barrel extension.

From the POF website -

.308 Revolution – Same length and diameter as the M16 barrel extension. Only the feed ramps are changed to handle the large .308/7.62×51 cartridge. Built to fit in our Small action/Frame.
