I found this mag at a local surplus store and I'm wondering where it came from. Any help IDing this mag will be appreciated. What I do know is it has the standard STANAG style baseplate and follower, but no markings anywhere on the mag

No offense intended at all... but that is very reminiscent of cheap horrible Pre Ban-Era AR mags. Made in bulk for sale before the Ban- Era kicked in.... IE when people would buy anything , out of desperation.
I can't remember the brand ... but.. I do remember the "centering" mold hole on that brand. It kinda looks like a early attempt at a "off-caliber" AR mag, ( 5.45x39 ?... or a 6.8 ? ) based on the lack of a spare rib , on the back side for .223 sized cartridges. |

I had one that came with a Colt 7.62x39 upper I bought on the used market. I recall it was a USA brand mag.
It was a complete piece of shit. USA and others sold frankenmags that worked pretty well. I don't recall who actually made them. One is on gunjoker right now and the auction hasn't started. Minimum bid is $129. OP's mag probably won't feed and should go on a yard sale table for $1.

Ones I bought similar years ago were advertised as Western Metal brand. 7.62x39 one.

Yeah the mag catch is a bit too high I think for a typical standard lower.
