Guys

My buddy gave me a lower that’s been completed with a std buffer tube. I want to add an upper like a 10.5”, I was looking at PSA with BCG they were 299 I think. I was looking at bravo co. and it seems they were in the $500 range?? Which is way more than I want to spend

I am new to builds and need advise on what I need. I’m going to get a shoulder brace for it, that’s easy enough to decide on, it’s the upper I’m need help with

OP, I'm in the same boat as you. I have an Anderson pistol lower but no upper. I'm waffling between the Anderson and PSA 10.5" uppers. Hopefully we can get some good recommendation's.

I have a 10.5, 10.3, 8.5. The 8.5" is PSA through and through and has been excellent. The only changes I made were the handguard and and I installed a Kaw Valley comp. As you've likely seen, at times PSA can be hit or miss. I'd go for it and hope for the best.

This is the best deal going right now on a pistol kit. The PDW is usually $300 by itself.

Get a 6.5 Grendel. I got this upper from sulzar firearms. Saxon match barrel. Worth every penny. Buying a complete upper already tested leaves you with more time to shoot. If you plan on getting a suppressor though, go 300BO.

PSA Nitride 10.5'' upper with premium BCG.
You would be hard pressed to find a better quality upper, plus they are dirt cheap.

I've shot a little over 5k through my andro corp 10.5 upper with no complaints. Very accurate since they have ballistic advantage barrels. Total upper complete with BCG and charging handle for $400 when I bought mine. No regrets

For a relatively inexpensive upper that is still high quality, this is what I'd recommend:

Getting a BA 10.3" barrel with a proper .070 port in an assembled upper for $272 is pretty reasonable. I have the same barrel in my Mk18/CQBR Block I, and it's a very nice barrel for the price. If you wait for a sale, you could get it even cheaper.

Add a Colt BCG and charging handle from Shark Arms for $125 and you're looking at roughly $400. That, or add a Toolcraft C158 Phosphate BCG for $69.95 and the CH of your choice - putting you around $375 give or take.

For $339.99 you can get a complete 10.5" pistol kit, (less lower receiver) with an SBA3 brace and an up-graded trigger. Why spend $299 on just an upper and then have to buy a brace? This is the kit I bought.

A complete PSA 10.5'' Nitride upper is $219 and free shipping. A complete kit with the SBA3 is still a better deal if you want Phosphate though.
For anyone interested=
Premium BCGs are made by Toolcraft. Toolcraft makes excellent carriers.
Barrels are made by DC machine. DC machine makes very high quality barrels.

For a budget upper I'd recommend PSA or Anderson. I have several PSA pistol length uppers and my 10" 5.56 upper is Anderson.

The Anderson is a good shooter, not undergassed and was reliable from round one. I tossed in a Toolcraft nitride BCG, best bang for the buck.

PSA will have more configuration choices and they run great sales all the time.

If you're not dedicated to 5.56 I'd also take a look at another caliber, my .300bo, 7.62x39 and 6.5G pistol uppers get more range time than 5.56.

I’d suggest building something decent that meets your needs. If you wind up like me, you’ll enjoy your inexpensive upper so much that in no time you’ll want one with better barrel, better rail, etc. your first inexpensive one will be in back of safe, unused.

I just bought the PSA upper shown in the video earlier this week but it says it has a Carpenter 158 BCG. Is that the same or equal quality to the tool raft mentioned earlier?
