Branching off from the normal Recce Rifle Thread for just legit clones. These have the most varying setups of all the clones, I believe. There is no hard data listed for every piece of equipment on these rifles. Only ITW photo's and some small lists of procurement from NSW. I have outlined the parts used most commonly but there are plenty of versions that are not covered in this list. The ITW one off photos of an already one off setup can be cloned using the parts visible in the photo!

A .mil recce clone thread? I have no problem with this. Nothing wrong with trying to zero in on how the military defines this setup.

Good timing, I was just thinking about this earlier today and wondering if a mil specific recce thread existed. Thanks.

What’s the appropriate gas system - wiki says carbine. Can anyone comment?

Appropriate is carbine, carbine is known to be in use, I know people use mid-gas on clones bc it is better, I don't know if it has been seen in use by the mil.

From what I've gathered from the limited info out there, the recce was an idea floating around with a few being built before the mk12 program was instituted. When the mk12 program was on full swing the recce was placed on the back burner. When the mod 1 rifles started seeing use by NSW, they supposedly weren't the happiest with the mod 1setup. So then the recce was pulled back out again, most of which being built by team armors out of parts available. So it would make sense that mod 1's were at some point used as donors. But there doesn't seem to be a solid parts list to follow. Most appear to have been built on request by the operator using parts and configurations requested by each individual.

I'd say ARMS. Kinda goes hand in hand with the Leupold. NF has more options as seen. ETA: on a side note, 234 days currently for a form 1 on a Colt lower. Until then I can't participate lol.

Between those options, I would go with the Larue. If you want a.r.m.s rings, you have to find nls's. Then you are $200+ into a set of rings that really are garbage. Even if they are tight when you get them, they will loosen over time not to mention you have to lap the hell out of them.

I just had my card ran by the ATF for my AEM5 so it’ll be a while for me also. However, my barrel should be back from ADCO anyday now. I’m sure J will let me blast his a few times before my AEM5 gets approved.

It's 15", the step has to be moved rearward to accommodate the 1" chop. Doing this allows the taper to sit in a position that allows the aem5 to sit flush with the long ff ras.

I couldn't remember if it was 15" even or 15.1", 15.1" sounds right though.

On another note, my dual switch remote just came in. Now I'm down to needing a peq-15 and a knurled aem5.
