I think the upper, bcg and charging handle was part of the complete 6933 upper.

Wow. I'd say so. I've seen some used DD barrels going for a good price, and new colt cqb barrels for a good price. It looks like you've got the Crane market cornered. You must have a decent hook up.

Do the barrels have a lot of life left in them?

I thought that too at first but from his post “I need to sell off the 11.5 upper since I built the 10.3 from the ground up” made me think his 11.5 is still complete.

Good catch upper and BCG were built from a 6920 upper and need to get them added to my spreadsheet. I don’t know how I missed that chunk of change, CH is on the sheet.

I see, I misunderstood that part. I was thinking he just re-barreled that upper.

It just keeps adding up.  I've heard a few other guys talk about doing spreadsheets. Not a bad idea to keep track of where each item came from. Mine would say Equipment Exchange all down the column though.Attachment Attached File

Reading through the thread, it seems like std carbine spring / H2 is what is correct to run. Do any of you run anything different like sprinco or geissele springs and h2’s? What color/ buffer combo’s are working well for you guys?

Thanks in advance

I run the Damage industries enhanced spring and an H2 buffer. I think it functions the same as a brand new standard spring but is more consistent and doesn't really wear out or sag.

Working on this little gem. I think it's my 4th or 5th MK18 build.

Got everything en route but the RIS. RAS for now. Well except for the PEQ2.

Where are you seeing new Colt barrels for good prices?  TA?

Also, thinking about moving away from Oregon…where does the MK18 master race recommend to get distinct seasons and long-lasting MK18 freedom?! LOLAttachment Attached File

Im from Indiana. While they don't  have much restriction on firearms, I can't in good faith, recommend anyone move here. A few years back the opened up hunting with suppressors. We are also home to Crane, so there is that.

I'll grab one once I get some nods. Which isn't too high up on the list.

lol. It's not a terrible place, just not great either. I'm to the point where I'd like to move away from snow. Can't stand the winters anymore. At least it's lax on gun laws. It's crazy what some people have to do in other states just to own a gun.

Do 80% finishing services exist? I have a custom navy engraved FN clone lower and would rather have it milled out vs. using a drill press.

Figured I'd ask before investing in an actual router kit. Prob will use it once then sell it but even then I'd still need to get the lower anodized.

I suppose if you had an ffl with a machine shop but then they might require their info being engraved on it.
Probably less expensive to buy the router and jig especially if you plan on reselling

Per atf guidelines, you have to be the one doing the work/ manufacturing. Otherwise, the place milling it for you would be the manufacturer, and you'd have to fill out a 4473, which somewhat defeats the main appeal of making your own firearm.
I'm pretty sure that's the path atf used when they cracked down on AK build parties where people would share tooling. Basically you'd have to allowed to use the companies machines and mill it out for yourself, and even then, they may still have issues with the tools not being yours.
*at least that is my understanding of the process/ rules regarding making your own firearm. Someone may know it better than I, and chime in.

Lol. Great response. The ris3 looks a lot more rigid than the mk16. That's was really wise of them to keep the same mounting system.

Good info guys, thanks for clarification on the legalities Dzastr. Agreed this seems like more trouble than it's worth. I likely will just end up getting a router kit, cerakoting and then rattle can over it.

It's been growing on me more. I started a thread discussing the ris ii, sof ris iii and the new ris iii. I really liked the SOF select ris iii that had short rails on the 3,6 and 9 o'clock positions. It was reminiscent of the Geissele mk4 and retained the classic ris ii profile more s than the new ris iii. I am starting to consider getting one when the chance presents itself.
Heres a link to the thread Ris2/Ris3 discussion

Here's what the SOF select ris iii looked like for reference.
