I think my "general purpose" rifle is in its final form.

Any suggestions on sling attachment to the fixed stock so I can have it come off the top of the stock, but without using the sling adapter (the black velcro piece)?

Messing around this morning. The lower is for my wife's rifle. She wanted the A2 stock, but wanted it shiny black. So I gambled and bought a UTG stock kit. The buffer spring felt really stiff so I figured I would "test" it before turning her loose with it. Works fine but I think I want get one for myself now.

A mostly parts bin rifle.  The MkII has been sitting on the shelf for a while now.  Planning on an upcoming Appleseed to break it in.  Hoping to shoot another rifleman score offhand.

Build done (for now, at least). Light (5 pounds 12.8 ounces at last check, unloaded), but it gets hot during sustained fire.

Crap potato pic but it’s got a 18” Daniel Defense cold hammer forged barrel (only 18” I could find with a shoulder big enough for a FSB) and a badass KNS pointed front sight pin. I was able to get good consistent hits to 750 yards on man size silhouettes when I wrapped a sling tight.

Keeping the thread alive...

My A2/A1 hybrid experiment. 14.5" Larue Stealth barrel. Midlength gas system. M4 feedramps. A1 furniture, to include some cut to fit A1 hanguards/custom endcap. Very nice balance. It feels like an improvement over the old 20" M16A1, especially with the heavy barrel.

So I had my PSA Premium middie upper out of the safe for my DIL to try on her BabyPFG lower for her dedicated .22, and having it out here fondling it I have come to the conclusion I want to build it up on my Minuteman-15 lower. I have ordered a CMMG A1 stock kit but was originally going to use an MOE grip from the pile of these I have accumulated, but this picture changed my mind. That's just an MOE-K grip, correct? How does it feel with the grip being so small?

I have the same one on my  rifle, it’s a magpul k2 grip. I have large hands and this is my go to grip.

I love the K2 and the K2+, I have them on my 18" and both of my pistols.
For this one though, I decided to go with the MIAD, for the "A1 look" blending into the Magpul hand guard and for the oil bottle storage core. PSA Minutemen-15 lower, CMMG A1 stock kit, PSA EPT lower build kit and PSA Premium upper with FN chrome lined (not CHF) barrel.

And yes, my carry handle is a bit beat up...

Spikes Dissipator with the Cav Arms A1 stock.   Very comfortable and soft shooting with the rifle buffer.

Color match tip: Drop that B5 grip in about 40 ounces of near boiling water with 4 tablespoons of Dark Brown liquid RIT for a perfect match to the green Cav stock. Should only take a few dips at 30 second intervals. Be quick on removal and dunk into clean water, otherwise you'll get some streaks. It's reversible with a 1:1 water/bleach mix at a near boil for about 45 mins.

Disregard if you are going for the "combat clash" look and are not OCD like me.

Looks great!

Funnily enough, the only two ARs I've built are mid length, fixed stock builds:

Top is my recently put together spare parts Dissy in 6.8 SPC. Looks weird, but I sorta like the mismatched nature of it. Getting a Griffin Armament A3 grip, and gonna use an old spare bandoleer to make a handguard wrap like I did for the stock.

Bottom is my 5.125lb (sans magazine) lightweight build built off Kaiser X-7  polymer receiver set. Been running through stocks on this build, starting with a 4oz Brigand that was super light but looked funky and didn't feel the greatest. Recently picked up the Luth-AR Skullaton, and I think this is its final form.

Mostly finished with my HD rifle. Sorry for the crappy pic. I'll have to get a better one.

Faxon 14.5" middy gunner .223 Wylde that I P/W myself with a YHW Phantom comp/brake
Aero upper non FA
Aero 9" Atlas S-one handguard FDE
Radian Raptor FDE charging handle
Anderson lower
POF 3.5lb straight trigger
A2 grip FDE
A1 stock from Cav Mfg FDE
Wojtek adjustable gas block
Sig Romeo red dot
Magpul BUIS
KAC vertical foregrip

Still need to get an ambi safety and a dust cover. Can't remember who the sling is by.

Looks nice. This setup is what I’m strongly considering for a KISS build.

I happened upon a sweet deal on a FN 16” middy barrel. So, as it goes, a new rifle is conceived by spare parts doing spare parts things.

This will barrel is headed off to Retro Arms Works to have a FSB pinned, then will be mated to a Brownells A1 receiver set (slick-side upper).

I thought a set of Boyd’s wood furniture would go quite nicely, but not really keeping with the KISS concept, IMO. (read: “I don’t want to spend that much on furniture”)

I may need to take a harder look at the Ace stocks as well.

You'll need a QD attachment if you're not using a traditional sling swivel, this one doesn't come with it.

Specter Gear slings are amazing, I have them on all my rifles. Can't say enough good things about them.

ETA:

Just found they have this one that comes with a QD attachment, they say its for the Ruger PC Carbine, but I assume the stock stirrup would still work on any normal fixed stock
