@StuartBoyer

Depends on what timeframe you want as well.  Lots of variation unit to unit, I saw the least at 2d, somewhat more variation at 1st, and a ton with 3rd.  Then again, since I was at 2d of course I'd think the grass was greener

Stocks: also saw a few CAR stocks, but they were not as issued, were placed on by guys who preferred them.

Vertical grips:
KAC broomstick
Surefire m900 series

Sights:
eotech 552 (nv capable) (I didn't see any 512's)
Acogs

Charging Handle:
mil-spec with Badger extended latch as well

Slings:
VTAC (padded and unpadded)
eagle 3 point
spec ops mamba in coyote

And one category add; Mag release.  All M4a1's I saw had Norton Ambi mag releases.  A few had Magpul BAD levers but they were individual adds.

Thats what I saw 2012-2016 ish.  We had a few 10.5 and 12.5 DD uppers for trial as well, but ultimately kept to the 14.5's with ergo rail.

And if you want 2004 timeframe:

Glad this got bumped or I would have missed it. Was planning on a M4A1 block II build with a LPVO but damn now I may to do one of these as well. I guess you cant have to many

ETA: I'm assuming that these would be running a Socom profile barrel?

Am collecting parts to piece together one.   Let's see some more pics. I'll contribute soon, hopefully.

We need to bring this thread back.

Since I had 2 Block I's, a Block II, and a URG-I, adding an ergo rail extension made a Block I transition a no brainer. I just got the ergo rail today. I have a Razor HD Gen 2 1-6 waiting for a Geissele mount.

Anyone else add the ergo?

I forget if it was posted in these forums or on Facebook, but some Army or Guard guys installed it on their M4 uppers.

I bought one after selling my Colt SOCOM upper. Holding on to the rail extension if I ever feel like building another M4 upper.

I picked an ergo up a few months ago for my recon clone. I should've taken a few pics this weekend when I took it and my fsp block II out.

In the last thread about Recon rifles, there was some talk about the Cadex rail extensions being used. I’ve always wanted the Cadex extension, just because they’re cool and I like Canadian shit, but i’ve never seen one on a Recon gun.

Anyone have pics of the Cadex?

If you were in the Suck you were born again hard at P.I with the belief you could nail anything after hitting center mass out to 500 yds with only iron sights! Also, I'm damn sure any Marine was thrashed if he/she ever tried this Army move while shooting the AR - Placing your support hand around the magwell as if it were a vertical foregrip! One of my biggest pet peeves which I personally witnessed "soldiers" having mis-feeds due to unseating the magazine by this stupid move!

However, the Army did get the Sig contract as their new Optic, which one slid off the line while fielding and fell onto my Geissele. Hated the ACOG and actually used an Eotech in OIF which saved my ass 10x over!As stated above, "most" Marines do not have the option to run whatever they want for optics or modify their rifles with tricked out gear - was lucky enough to be on the T&E crew for L3 at the time! Sure wish I had a MAWL instead of the shitty PEQ when I was there!

Lastly, as a wicked Eotech fan I couldn't help but pick up something in your spec sheet at the top OP. I'm pretty sure it's a G33, not a G34 but I knew what ya meant.

Gung Ho - Gung Ho....

I'm thinking there is some stolen valor going on if someone is claiming to be a Gunny and also says that Marines didn't use the magwell hold on the rifles.

This thread needs a bump…

Does anybody else remember “short-stocking” your A2 like in the first pick above…?
Back before we had collapsible stocks or short barrels, that’s how we taught MOUT room clearing.

I remember "short stocking" and grabbing the mag well numerous times during clearing. The mag well was quick and easy too when it came to reloading. I somewhat recall having my vfg near that position too when we first fielded those a4's. Several of us kept things in close with those 20"ers. I never did have any feeding issues when it came to grabbing the mag well.

I just ordered an Ergo extension and it will be in this coming week, how sturdy are they when mounting an AFG on? Reason I ask is I saw someone post about how they weren't very stable and wobble.

That is probably a PEQ-16 of some flavor, which would also fit with the USMC theme.

I did notice in the 2nd video, a lot of the Comp M4 Aimpoints had the mount reversed putting the knob on the ejection port side. I don't know why I never thought of that before. I flipped mine around and I do like it better that way.

Then why post the pic without noting that they aren’t your rifles?

That’s a PEQ-16, the trigger is as far from correct as possible, and the Aimpoint M4S wasn’t issued to the Marines (unless it was at a very small scale).
