So, back in 2013 Magpul had a lawsuit on patent infringement against 4 companies: Promag, Plinker Tactical, Big Rock Sports/Swampfox and Cole Industries.

Trying to find what mags in particular the lawsuit was against?

Were these the particular mags? Any info on a Cole Industries AR mag?

Edit:

So, Cole Industries LLC produced Cole A2 30rnd AR magazine.

Anyone familiar with this mag? Did this become Amend2 A2 mag? Google foo not good on this one.

The others were off the market so they probably abided by the cease and desist.

Pro Mag must have fought it and won, as they still sell the exact same magazine.

I’m curious to know what can be patented on a standard double stack mag…

Design factors required by the switch to a different material

Style features (certain ribs, shapes, or forms) that are cosmetic in nature

The attachment method and function of the magazine cover

The method of assembly/disassembly

Follower design

etc.

If I can get them in, definitely dig deeper.
Plinker kind of resembles the EMAG.
Swampfox and Promag have that PMAG look.

It's ProMag. Maybe the judge knows they'd never copy a working design?

Promag and Plinker Tactical each stopped making S&W M&P 15-22 mags that have been rumored to be OEM made by Magpul.

IDK.

Apparently E.T.S was in the mix as well...

February 25, 2015 — Magpul Industries Corp. announced today that it has concluded its patent infringement lawsuit against Elite Tactical Systems Group (E.T.S.), with the Court entering a judgment that E.T.S. infringed four Magpul patents—U.S. Patent Nos. 8,069,601, 8,635,796, 8,839,543, and 8,166,692. The Court ordered E.T.S. to immediately stop making, using, offering for sale, and selling its infringing magazines for AR-15/M16 rifles and carbines and its Rapid Recognition Follower. In addition, the Court ordered E.T.S. to destroy or permanently modify the molds used to manufacture the accused products. Lastly, the Court ordered E.T.S. to pay Magpul monetary damages.

So ETS had to redesign their followers?  I wonder if they got better, worse, or stayed about the same.  Pretty sure I bought a few of the various colors when first made available.

I remember around 2009-2010 coming across Syntec mags and noticing they were a blatant copy of the PMAG (follower, feed lips, floor plate, overall shape), but very cheap feeling and flimsy. I'm surprised they were never sued; however, they must have only been around a short time because I never saw them again.
