Their description says that these have M4 feed ramps.

I came here to post this.  I bought one.

M4 ramps on the barrel with a non-ramped upper will function fine.  It's the other way around that causes trouble

Here's a build with a JSE lightweight 1/7 nitride barrel.  the new phosphate barrel will be built up simiarly

Nice A2 & pencil barrel configuration.

Has anyone bought these before.
I’m guessing, based on the description, they are not chrome lined.
Debating buying one or waiting until a nitride one becomes available.

Opinions?

I'm holding out for 1/9.

For me, it seems to be the best for 55 or 62 gr.

Welcome different opinions.

+!, chrome highly over rated, 1/9 poor compromise, world standard for 5.56 is 1/7.

I'm going to replace a barrel on my current build and try my hand with some Norells moly resin also

if you really want chrome, wait until PSA/H&R get their retro barrels produced.

I think they are going to be 1:12 which is F’n worthless. I remember asking them to do 1:7 and M4 ramped A1 uppers and the answer I got was basically “lol no because retro”. ?????

Glad to see JSE has a good inventory of these new barrels in stock! Two years ago I got one of their last 20" phosphate 1/9 pencil barrels before they dried up almost forever. (The 1/7 twist was already gone.) I believe the manufacturer was Wilson (not Wilson Combat of course) and it has worked out well in an XM16E1 reproduction built with a NoDak lower, an APEX M16A1 parts kit and Brownells Type D furniture. With the non-chrome lined barrel it's a fairly honest low cost representation of an XM16E1 circa ~1966. And the 1/9 twist handles the 55 and 62 grain ammo I throw in it.

These 20" JSE barrels are made by Del-Ton if anyone is wondering.

which US military rifles were chrome lined before the M16?

The M14. Which was chromed based on experiences with the M1 Rifle and Carbine, and the 03 Springfields, in the Pacific during WW2, and the discovery that the Japanese had been chroming the Type 99 all along with good results.

JSE sold 65 barrels and then just posted some more, I have two of them and they are really nice, really like the fact they are 1/7 twist.  May even pick up another one soon just because.

I'm going to replace a Delton barrel
I'm also going to stripped the upper and lower and try my hand at Norrels Moly resin

They were sold out when I checked on the 4th. So I ordered a KAK barrel instead. They did have a sale and I got it for 15% off, which helped.
Received it quick, looks like a nice barrel. I won’t know how it shoots till I find an upper to put it on.
