Do you know what hardware I need to use a QD mount there? I did not know if it needed something like this:

But they seem very specific about that fitting their own brand of magpul stocks, so I am left uncertain and did not want to spend money only to find out it is wasted.

Hard to tell from the pic?
Does a qd button snap into it or is the hole bigger?

You may need an insert like THIS Grovtec Unit

I used one on my Luth-AR MB-3 stock.

Make sure you get a reputable brand though.
Magpul, BCM, Midwest industries, etc.

OEM. That one is the FDE option. They also come in black or grey.

I took a close look in the hole with bright light and see a groove and a ridge on each side that looks like it is designed to hold the part of the QD mount that sticks out when released. So it looks like I am good to go just buying the mount.

Direct from FN’s website. It is an integrated QD socket. Nothing needed to use that QD socket other than a QD.

Qtrhorse covered it...but to be clear, your stock has a QD insert molded into the stock. All you need to do is pick up a QD sling swivel and insert till it clicks into place. Give it a decent tug and if it doesn't pull out you are good to go.
