Anyone have a source or have an extra 30 round mag spring?

i bought a 10 round restricted mag - I live in a free state - and need a spring to get it operational  as a free state mag.

A whole new mag is only $10!

I appreciate the post but that'$ what I want to avoid.

Don't go to Global Ordnance & buy a case of their steel Korean 30 round mags for $5 ea.

You could 3-D print a mandrel and wind your own spring.

They don't say what metal they use. Is it stainless, chrome silicon, or something else?

@TGWLDR

I was at their site. They now carry chrome silicon springs for some applications in addition to their regular springs

I bought an AK47 op spring from Wolff that was claimed to be made of "proprietary steel."  I calculated the stresses on the spring when it was fully compressed, and that, in conjunction with the color of the spring (gold) led me to believe that it is likely chrome-silicon.  It may be "proprietary" in the sense that they used a lower tempering temperature than normal, increasing its strength.  I seriously doubt that a mag spring company developed its own proprietary alloy.

Or maybe not.  I dunno.

@brownbomber

How does the Wolff AK spring compare to foreign AK springs?

I'm not sure if I see any benefit.  The Wolff spring absorbs 5.36ft lbs of kinetic energy vs the factory springs 4.63ft lbs.  That 0.73ft lbs difference is completely trivial and does virtually nothing to alleviate felt recoil - the kinetic energy of the operative components is a lot more than that.

I put a Magpul stock on my AK, and the felt recoil is pretty rude, since I'm resting my cheek on the stock.  It feels like someone is lightly punching me in the face.  The solution is to retract my head and get my cheek off the buttock, which is counterintuitive to someone who prefers an AR.

Aftermarket stuff rarely offers any improvement over original designs.
