Trying to figure out what's the most "Gucci" barrel available in 11.5 length. Kac? Triarc? Colt? Fn? Dd? Brt? If you were building an upper and had to select the best parts what barrel do you go with?
Link Posted: 12/31/2020 10:46:52 PM EST
I went through this a while back. Settled on 3 Colt HRT barrels for my needs. Haven’t looked back since, awesome barrels.

It wasn't and I went with dd...

I followed it up with a colt for backup...

I went with Criterion.

Colt, FN...If you are not running full auto mag dumps with a suppressor...most quality barrels will outlast the average shooter.
Link Posted: 12/31/2020 11:55:45 PM EST
I’d go with Daniel Defense or Colt.
Link Posted: 1/1/2021 2:54:53 AM EST
Colt FBI SOCOM profile, or the Criterion Core.
Link Posted: 1/1/2021 7:55:08 AM EST
If no mag dumps or full auto, I’d go with the Proof Research 11.5”. About as light as it gets and still rigid.

I was in this boat a month ago and went with a (KAC style) dimpled barrel from Nefarious Arms. It’s a heavy profile, Colt Commando I think? Could be wrong. It’s a damn fine barrel. Hard to come by though but Centurion, Triarch, Sionics, Noveske, etc are all Gucci IMO and all make great barrels.

I’d lop an inch off of a Hodge 12.5”. I love mine.

Either do that or a Criterion CORE.

Definitely considered but wonder if long term not having chrome on the crown would be a big deal or not especially if mainly suppressed.

Colt

These are great in a F/A gun.
Link Posted: 1/1/2021 8:43:36 PM EST
Dunno about all that "Gucci" shit, but Colt FBI bbls rock.
Link Posted: 1/2/2021 1:24:44 AM EST
Colt FBI. After that, either DD, Centurion, or Criterion.
Link Posted: 1/2/2021 3:33:44 AM EST
No one's mentioned the Sionics RGP?
Link Posted: 1/2/2021 7:26:19 AM EST
Daniel Defense works good for me but I'm sure the other options work just as well

If money isn’t an issue?

It’s an 11.5” MRP Barrel... in an MRP.

I have a Colt 11.5, but would be happy wih a PSA 11.5 nitride..... but far and few between.

Had to chop S&W and PSA to get my other 11.5s

Colt 11.5 FBI profile is amazing. IMHO.

I really like my Criterion Hybrid.

It looks like they've limited the 11.5 hybrid to only being sold by Midwest.

Don't think I've seen Sionics selling their barrels standalone for awhile now.

I would probably go Criterion Core. Backorder is getting long but at least you can get in a line.

I also have that barrel and it is definitely a shooter.

I’ve heard some people say “it’s just an 11.5” gun, no need to spend big money on a barrel” but those in the know are well aware that buying the most accurate barrel possible will make the rifle shine in its intended role.

Still think the Triarc offering is the best.  Specs

KAC

-I really really liked what I saw on the borescope
-The gas port is sensible
-The MOD2 gas system truly is evolutionary
-The E3 bolt is peerless

Colt FBI-HRT 11.5". I haven't shot it yet but It appears to be a high quality bbl. Spendy though...
FN next.

Nefarious arms dimpled heavy profile E3 extension barrel is hard to beat.

Otherwise, DD or Colt do the job just fine depending on what profile you want.

Or just get a factory KAC upper and be done with it.

Complete 11.5" KAC upper or rifle.
Link Posted: 1/12/2021 4:48:22 PM EST
I have DD, Sionics, BA, Criterion and G. G or DD would be my favorites.

I just looked this up, didn't know he offered these with an E3 extension.  Thanks!

My best 11.5" barrel is a custom Bartlein 300 Blackout. Had to buy a custom 1/7 .308 blank from Bartlein, sent it to Compass Lake, spec the length, profile, port, etc. provided JP bolt to headspace. Had the one blank cut in half to make two identical 11.5" barrels. Now I have a 300 BLK that does sub MOA 110 supersonic and sub MOA 190 SubX, just factory loads, no hand loads required.

Since money isn't an issue I am not worried about barrel life, but honestly, the price per barrel was not that bad due to only using one blank to make two barrels. I don't do close range drills with my 300 Bartlein, that abuse is for chrome lined 5.56 CMV barreled guns. I expect thousands of rounds of service from each barrel and if it wears out I will just build another.

I don't know anyone personally with a more accurate 300 BLK.

I had bad experiences with carbon fiber barrels in the AR platform so would never go that route again, but not afraid of stainless one bit.

I was wanting another Sionics, but unless you are buying an upper, it appears they are not available.  I emailed them and received that response.

That said, I believe Sionics are Green Mountain barrels, so maybe trying there.

Colt, DD, or criterion if I’m just looking for a barrel.

KAC is great and all but not sure why ppl think that it has to be brought up in every thread.  I’m not going to blow my $350 barrel budget by $1700 to get a KAC upper.  I’ve owned all 3 gens and they are great but y’all gotta relax.

11.5" Noveske SS. If you run select fire or doing lots of mag dumps, the 12.5" Noveske CHF cut down to 11.5". A lot of these recommendations in this post are top notch. I have experience with the Noveske bbl's so thats why I highly recommend them. 8.3" 300blk SS, 5.56 11.5" CHF(cut down from 12.5"), 5.56 14.5" CHF, each of these barrels are still sub moa, after thousands of rnds down the pipe.

Do any of the makers of quality CHF barrels make 11.5" lightweight/pencil profile barrels?

They are fairly new.  Hopefully I can snag one soon.  Had to settle on their lightweight profile a few weeks back.

I’m not sure I would call them lightweight barrels.  They are more between a lightweight and government profile.  I do like the profile, have one.  It’s definitely a lighter weight than their midweight.  Have a couple of these as well.
