I was going through some early "Cap'n Crunch" bolts today and found a weird one.  Does anyone know what the oversized heavy carrier in the middle is from?  Thanks.

Looks like may be a bolt to a M231 port firing gun.

Early (experimental maybe), big heavy National Match? The small slot for hammer clearance is interesting. Hope you find accurate explanation.

Looks like an SR-25 carrier to me.

Not Crane, they never had much early stuff.  These came from a base in Alabama

ANAD has crunched SCAR 17 rifles also. DoD throws away all sorts of nice things. Last time I was there, they were removing new mortars from the shipping crates just to DEMIL them.

A friend of mine was working security at Crane when they brought out two cases of UNISSUED Winchester Model 12 trench guns to be demilled.  The wooden cases had the Winchester logos stenciled on them and he asked if he could have one of the EMPTY cases.  He was informed that not only were the guns being destroyed, but the EMPTY CRATES were to be destroyed also.  What a waste, all around.
