I need to check the size of the gas port on my new rifle barrel.  I shot it once after installing it and it is kicking way to hard for a 556 rifle length barrel. Either than or my T is low. Seriously though, my AR47 carbine is more pleasant to shoot than this thing.   Is there an easy way to measure the size of the port on the barrel so I can communicate this to the vendor?  Thanks

I have a set of gas welding/cutting tip cleaners around here, I find the one that fits and then I mic it.

DaveP1 gave you the easiest/most economical way to do it ^^^^^^

I use my trusty 115 piece Harbor Freight drill bit set. The wire gauge sized bits are handy for measuring small holes since they jump only a few thousandths from one to the next.

Chances are the hole was drilled with a standard number drill bit.

So, find the one that fits.

Hey, I have one of those drill bit kits as well, but tracking all of the bits down would be quite a chore, I have 4 benches in the shop and I have a pile of drill bits laying all 4 of them!
