My last range session mt 12 inch carbine started having some issues. About every other round the bcg would chamber around. The click, dead trigger.

-ammo(hoping this is the issue) Igman m193
-pmag. In good shape. Need to go over the feed lips
-larue 12 inch barrel with suppressor.  Over gassed
- standard lo pro gas block.
- just installed h3 buffer
- this happened with 2 bolt carrier groups. 1 being a new toolcraft

Any ideas. This is my go to rifle. I have a lot of time and rounds behind it. Never an issue

Thanks

Disconnector not catching and holding the hammer?

What kind of fire control group? You've got some kind of disconnector malfunction apparently, sometimes with very overgassed setups the hammer comes back so fast and the BCG rebounds so fast that they outrun the disconnector, especially if you have a weak disconnector spring, it's not timed right, or is dragging from fouling.

Clean your lower, inspect trigger. Reinstall and oil it.

Without more specifics here are some guesses keeping in mind this was a reliable piece for most of its life.

Did the low pro gas block loosen and shift?
Did you shoot crap polymer coated ammo and now have a gummed up chamber?
Leakage at gas carrier key?
If the gas tube clear of foreign objects?
Use different ammo?

Gas block is secure
Yes. I have shot some shitty ammo. Inspected and cleaned the chamber.  It was filthy but I haven't shot any Steelcase in a couple thousand rounds.
Did not check carrier key. Same issue with 2 different bcgs
I removed the gas tube. No obstructions
This is a batch of Igman 55g I recently purchased for plinking.

I'll strip the lower down in the am and give it a thorough .
cleaning. I've had a couple issues with cmc triggers. I'll be picking up a couple larue or geissele

When's the last time you checked or replaced the recoil spring?

Make sure you don’t have a spent primer floating around hiding under the trigger.  It will cause this too.

That usually locks it up if it gets under the back of the trigger.

Try the upper on a different lower you know that works

Maybe drop in a USGI type trigger and see if that works. If you have one lying around.

I don't have an H3 buffer in anything.  Both my SBRs run with a properly sized gas port, Adco did this work.

Mine are carbine length gas, 10.5".

Make sure your trigger spring is installed correctly.  Swap complete lower half to troubleshoot if you can.

Last time this happened to me, one of the legs on my hammer spring had broken.

Went to the range yesterday.  Fully cleaned upper. New bcg. New fcg. About 15 rounds in I start getting ftfs. Squeeze trigger. Click.
Light primer strikes. This is a new batch of igman 55g.

@bzugger I'm just throwing this out there and it may not be your case but it's a similar malfunction/presentation as yours.

I had one barrel that had headspace issues (yes a 5.56) and would get a sporadic click somewhere between even 10-50 rounds regardless of the ammo.

These malfunctions are a pain because just when you run a mag through the gun and it works fine you get a failure and start all over.

You said yours has plenty of rounds on it; what sort of round count are we talking on the barrel itself?

If you milled the lower, check the depth. If you do not mill it deep enough, the trigger will not be able to reset properly.
