I'm trying to put together an upper in 300BLK. My Sandman S should be released from prison here soon and I plan to shoot mostly sub-sonics with the option of it running well with supersonics. Preferred barrel length in the 7.5-8.5" range and I don't have a problem spending up to ~$350-400. Will be used for just BS'ing around at the range up to ~200 yards with some accuracy.

I've been eyeing this Wilson Combat barrel.

8" 300BLK barrel 1:7

thoughts on it or alternatives? Would I be better of with 1:8 rather than 1:7?

Thanks in advance.

BCM makes some good stuff. I have 2 300BLK barrels. Their 9" and their 12.5" Enhanced Fluted barrels.

I'd take a look at Ballistic Advantages offerings. A lot of barrel for the money and 3 various "levels" leading up to a SS Hanson profile which is very nice.

Using an 8.3” Hanson BA Barrel.  Perfectly sized gas port (works perfectly suppressed and unsuppressed with both supers and subs) and accurate enough for my purposes.  I can pretty consistently hit 12” steel at 200y with my subs.

I'm got an 8.5" Noveske on mine and couldn't be happier.

The Noveske barrel. I did the 10.5" just because I am tall and needed little more length. Its a good barrel shoots supers very well and I have acutally shot subs out past 200yds with great success.

I have a 8.5" 1:8.
If I were building a replacement it would be a 8.5" 1:7 (to stabilize 240gr cast)

Wow. Thanks for the replies, guys.

The Noveske was second on my list. Might have to go with it.

Odd some vendors offer it with the bolt, some without. Others include the gas tube and block.

I know this is out of your desired length, but I have a 10.5" Odin Works with 3 years and a few thousand rounds through it.  Very happy.

I picked up a BA 7.5" stainless match barrel, last week, for my 300 build. It was right at $100, from Ground Zero Precision in Tx.

Ballistic Advantage is some good bang for your buck.

Stange as it sounds, I have a couple of buddies that got turned on to CMMG .300 Blk barrels.  Having built a number of rifles and currently waiting on 2 separate tax stamps (Forms 1 and 4) for an SBR'd, silenced .300 I went with the CMMG because 1) They had an 8.2 inch (which fits perfectly with the MI rail I am using) and 2) they are a really good product.  If I was using an 18" barrel to shoot 500-700 yards would I use a CMMG, probably not (probably not .300 either).  But for 100 yards and in with .300 Blk subs my buddies barells are really good.  Just my 2 cents.

I don’t see these listed on their site, they only have their brand for that price.

The QPQ'ed Hanson profile barrels with the pinned gas blocks are very nice.   Given an unlimited budget I'd buy another one.

Very nicely finished, great looking bore, runs 100% with the same buffer weight regardless of which combination of subs/supers/can/no can.    I have a similar length BCM barrel for comparison, and I don't think the port size is as perfect on the BCM.

I had to relieve the back end of a can mount for one so it would shoulder solidly, but I don't know if the muzzle threads come with relief cuts now, or if OP's can mount doesn't need one anyways.
