Not in unless you're hiding a bump stock.

My only concern would be is that it will put pressure on the delta ring and if you do some shoot and scoot with your stick slung you could dislodge your handguards and that would suck.  Other wise I wouldn't worry about heat.  We used nothing but 550 cord and 100mph tape to modify our slings to work back in the day before all the high speed low drag stuff came out available to us in the Corps.

Heat won't be an issue. I ended up putting QD swivels on one of my slings but ran it secure with some 550 cord right by the gas block for several months. It blackened the cord but there didn't appear to be any loss of material integrity.

Can push the sling out to front sight triangle if needed

I do retro builds and use the old style usgi general purpose sling with the buckles cut off and use a paracord to make mount points. I did tie the paracord to the barrel and have melted the paracord before. I now tie it on the front sight post with success.

I can't imagine it would be a problem.  I've used them on FSBs which get extremely hot vs the delta ring.

What you got works. Also might I recommend the Blue force gear wire loop if you're worried about the paracord melting.

The front of your flat top rail... in front of your RDS. That would put it very close to where you paracord is located now off the delta ring.

Unless you're telling me you have an A2 upper with no front sight?

Put the sling directly on the handguards like this. It’d probably hold up better. With the paracord, you’re adding a point of possible failure. I have it on one of my retro builds like this (man it’s weird calling the early 2000’s “retro” lol) and it has been working great.

ETA: just realized you don’t have anything on the handguards forward of where it would be that would keep it from slipping off, though I don’t think it would. In that case, get one of these IDF sling attachment points. https://zahal.org/product/zahal-narrow-velcro-strap-sling-adapter/

What am I missing here? Why the hell would you build an upper that way?

The “why the hell would you?” Is a valid question.

But until then, BFG makes what you’re looking for.

Put it around the delta ring. Should keep it from sliding off. Just couldn’t find a picture off hand.

Heres what I would do honestly.

Get one of these for $15, and install it on your handguard.

Yeah you will have to modify it, I'm assuming those drop in handguards are just from a spare parts bin or something?

Theres also a chance it might work with a venthole on the bottom

You can run a sling that is attached around the delta ring fine, I highly doubt you would
ever see problems with pulling the delta ring back.

The only issue that I’ve seen is that sometimes if the sling is thick, it can move into a
position where it ever so slightly blocks the ejection port and will create a malfunction
when the bolt is ejecting.

Folks had them attached to the delta ring for years when I was in.
