Love it. It wouldn't be as GWOT'ish but I've got a carry handle Aimpoint micro mount I've been sitting on for years that would be nice on a BHD type build.

Project I was working on a few days ago.

I had a Salty Old Colt N1 from my early days in the Army circa Ft Bragg. When I say this thing was rough, unless you been there and seen it you wouldn’t believe me.

So how can we bring this thing back to life?

Easy, disassemble, scrub & oil the metal hardware; throw the stock in the dishwasher, let it run for the wash and rinse cycles, when it clicks over to dry stop it and pull the stock out. Scrub any remaining filth off with a bristle brush, then let it dry.

Now (take a seat) spray 4 x evenly applied coats of Plastic-dip (also known as Plasti-derp, depending on where you are from).

Not bad IMO, only thing that remains is how well it holds up over time...however it did fill in all the scratches, gouges, and overall poor looks of a 25 year old stock... and trust me this thing was rough.

@SDMF_Rebel

Did I read somewhere that you got the Remington SOCOM barrel? I snagged one of those from CDNN. Curious to see how it shoots. Will probably take it in a similar direction. Gotta love the DD FDE

I've had a great time looking through these pics. Ill have to figure out a good image hosting site that this dumb firefighter can work.

I'm a huge KAC dork and only have 1 gas gun and 1 bolt gun with nothing KAC.

I've got a re-release MRE that I go round and round with what to build with it. Had one, let it go, and couldn't stand it so I got another. I'm leaning toward a 300 blk with it because I've already got 4 rifles in 5.56 so I don't really need another.  I'm digging that rifle with the PST Gen ii 1-6 on it but I also think if it has a fsp, why not just go Aimpoint and use the fsp?

I hope I have some pics to contribute at some point.

I passed on buying one once. Kinda kick myself for doing it but I have no idea what I'd use it for besides lazing houses a mile away.

Guys who are mounting an 30mm Aimpoint to the ARMS carry handle mount, what ring are you using to get that really low profile?

Ha! That's why I'm here. "Inspired"
I can't be bothered to go full-on clone.
But you better believe I lurk and lust in all the clone threads. One day I want a mk12 mod 0. So bad.

I'm going to sound like an asshole, but I can't decide on a stock for the MRE.

CAR looks like the part, but I can't stand CAR stocks with a scope, especially a high scope.  Waffle looks the part too, but the gasbuster snags on it HARD.  A1 completely changes the look, so does a sopmod and ctr.

I agree that CAR looks the part. Of the options you listed, an A1 would get my vote if you HAVE to stray from CAR. Would have the rogue Mod 1 aesthetic going on.

The old school GI way to deal with that, would be to cut some foam and use some OD 100 mph tape to fab up a cheek riser.

My old Cherokee riser was relieved to allow the charging handle to be cycled to the rear, I would imagine a homegrown riser would have to be also.

Correct Leupy Rifleman and ultra dot vertical rings are inbound.

Need a PSA M16A2 lower and swap back to the older front cap on the surefire. Otherwise, Gordy is lookin pretty darn good. This is a joy to shoot.
