Hi everyone,

A while back someone posted this pic:

Attachment Attached File

Is this something to realistically be concerned about?

Also, has anyone measured the jacket since?

Any reason for them to make it thinner?

Thanks for any information!

I don't think its something to be concerned about, lots of higher end accuracy wise bullets are thin jackeded

Where did you get that?
Did you read the thread it was apart of?

Because it was part of a discussion of, possibly, a bad batch of Hornady 75 bullets that were disintegrating mid-flight...….
So yes, if you have bullets from that batch, yes it is something you should be concerned about...….....

It was shared in a thread asking about how the 75 grain Frontier’s were.  I don’t remember anything about a bad batch of Hornady Frontier 75 bullets that we’re disintegrating mid-flight, though?!

Is there lot information somewhere for what batch it was?

The thread here:

https://www.ar15.com/forums/Precision-Rifles/Hornady-75-grain-bullet-failures/10-9535/

discusses it.  It was involving reloads with that bullet.
FYI...…. just passing along information for you to consider.....

You may want to verify this but I remember reading the Hornady T2 bullet, which I believe is used in the Frontier 5.56 75gr BTHP, fragment threshold is 2150-2250 fps.

This very close toe 5.56 77gr SMK (MK262)which I believe is around 2100 fps.

If you are using them for game I'd be slightly worried - they may break up too quick and easy and not give a humane kill - but if not then well... not.

Accuracy wise it’s pretty solid stuff too. I’ve shot 2 boxes of it and it groups pretty well.

I agree. I've tried several 75/77 gr OTM's & the Frontier 75gr T2 is the most accurate for me.

So does this load (75 frontier) have the t-2 bullet? I am debating this or the 55gr Gold Dot for my 10.5 pistol for HD/SHTF.
