Honestly, I think it looks fine with the 604 upper - it's basically an Air Force GAU-5/A/A clone.

Which isn't what I want. I want an XM177E2 and that's what the lower is marked.

Makes sense. Got a lead on the A1 upper? If you haven't already, call up NDS and get on their wait list.

I do not.

I'm only interested in a complete upper, not stripped. I'm not a builder and have no tools.

I need to find someone with one, and the tools, locally. I'll pay them for time and labor and not one of these damn shops that once all quoted me $40 to swap a rapidex for a usgi windage dial.

You could always ship all the parts to John Thomas to assemble for you, he only charges like $40.00 plus shipping to assemble an upper. Back in 2007-2008 when I built my first upper I didn't have a barrel wrench yet so I made a post in my Hometown Forum and found a member who was nice enough to install my first barrel.

Yup. JT is a wizard. Highly recommended.

ADCO can do upper assembly as well.

I'd still need to buy ALL of those parts without a barrel and make sure there's no A2 parts like the dust cover. I was also wanting to trade the existing upper, and John Thomas won't take PayPal or credit cards which I'd need to use for a non-local transaction.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever posted this or not. The mailman dropped off this BOC M7 the other day also.

Mde your link hot, nice screen name!!  I guess Colt would have had to change the name on the SP-1 if they had kept their plans of calling it the Colt Comanche!

Only recently got into ARs and had to go with the classics. My first 2 builds, one from early 2021, and the other I completed this month

M16A1 parts kit with a SAK surplus barrel, Brownells lower

601, almost completely reproduction parts except the upper (and yes, I know I need to source the correct rear sight wheel)

Colt M16A1 clone with a PVS-1 scope on display in my basement bar. This is my first vintage AR15 clone, I'm looking forward to building more!

Ran across these old pictures

Far too many regrets ever selling this stuff but it did all go back into the hobby.

This was way back when real parts could still be found.

is it hard to post pics here at all? i used to post pics alot on ak forum and gunbroker but never here yet. i upgraded my membership finally. honestly im not into computers i had the wife post me an avatar earlier as i have no patience to navigate the unknown. i do take alot of neat pics however.

the pics me and wifey took in philippines of govt and captured m16s are sweet. i got to handle home made fals and franken m14s and take em apart for photos. one day hot into it the ac was busted so rivers of sweat was dripping on every gun i touched and my camera kept slipping out of my hands bouncing across the floor. bad day to drink coffee. it makes one nervous to finally touch home made abu sayef m16 micros by the way.

Question for the masses: where are you guys finding chrome XM16E1 BCGs? Or are you substituting new production ones?

When you make a post and want to attach a picture, go down to the bottom of the post editor page and click on the "
Select Image" button, and then the "Upload" button after that. Hope this helps. There are also YouTube videos that might be helpful.

Hip, I’ve had that grip adapter for over 22 years and I’ve finally found a home for it :)
Yes it’s weird, will eventually be removed, but enjoying it for now

the XM177 was the 2nd choice for it, but the mid-length LSO (proto) handguards lack a heat shield, so these serve a purpose.

You have remarkably good taste in furniture.

Unfortunately my wife would just doesn't appreciate such fine furnishings, especially when they are artistically embellished with valuable antique nick nacks.
