You can try the one round in the magazine test at a time, to see if it locks back on an empty magazine.  My guess without seeing the firearm is lack of gas pressure.

For process of elimination make sure that your gas block is centered over the gas and secure.  Check to see that the gas tube free floats inside the charging handle track side to side with just a little movement, if not then your barrel nut or gas block may be off and this could cause things to rub on the unlocking cycle and slow things down.  Make sure you soak the 7 bolt lugs with lube, lots of people we the bolt carrier which is fine but forget the 7 bolt lugs, the 7 bolt lugs need lube on the back and sides of the lug (can't get these too wet, so apply lube very generously to these) as you will get friction on the unlocking as the bolt carrier pulls the bolt away from the barrel extension lugs.  

It sounds like you have a dwell time issue, which we cover in great detail when we teach Armorer courses.  Dwell time is basically how long you keep a bullet in the barrel after it passes the gas port in the barrel to get enough gas into the gas system to make it reliably run.  You have a 10.5" barrel, which means that you have 2.85" of barrel past the gas port, which is referred to as dwell time.  The minimum amount of dwell time (barrel length) that you need past a gas port is 3.5".  One of the key signs you are experiencing, is lack of gas pressure, the indicator of this that the rifle works on M855 which is 5.56 NATO, but isn't working on the Wolf, and you state it is working suppressed on both loads.  

So a few suggestions to get it to run the Wolf ammo unsuppressed is to go with a standard carbine buffer (Not heavier), and use a standard carbine buffer spring (Not heavier).  Then use some type of muzzle brake or compensator that has a baffling system that will provide a little back pressure, a Noveske PIG or similar comes to mind, and see if this improves anything.
